hey i just need a list of things i need to make models and icons if anyone could give me a list i would be happy.

p.s. do I need skins to use models if not then what are skins used for.

read the stickies.
but some goog progs are:
3d studio max 4 or 5( rare to find now..) about $3000
milkshape (its a 30 day trial) $20us to buy

and modding ones are:
oinker winkles tools, which can be found here.
http://www.oinkerwinkle.com/tools/

and for skinnin tools u can use the gimp which can be found in the tools sections, and a icon helper tool is in the tool section too.
u can also use photoshop cs or paintshop pro, but the free ones of these are trials.

you dont have to use versions 4 or 5 they are just easier to use since blizzard has released art tool scripts for ease of exporting your work. Max 6,7 and 8 also will work. You need dex script preferably the newest version of it which is difficult to come across so i hear. Ive used max 7 and 8 and both worked properly exporting. Only thing that hasnt exported was the material information and skins...which can easily be added in mdl editing.

by the way nutter...what didnt you like about max? Other than the fact it could use a filet command. i think thats how you say it
