So, I've been doing great up until this part. I absolutely stumped. I think I am just not on that level to build a hookshot ability like pudge in dota. I tried following WC3 map tutorials, seeing what they did on this site for hookshots.

It simply whooshs over my head. There seems to be alot to it, I just don't get. I figured if I keep messing with it, I eventually will get it. Its been about a month or so going to it and dropping it. I need someone to teach me how to do this, because I surely am not learning on my own at this point. Not really worried about aesthetics and how complex it is. I just need to learn how the bare bones work, and how to use a tentacle to do it.

I wonder how many people in the world are advanced enough to make such an ability.

I basically want to use the Aberration model as the smoker in Left 4 dead. He shoots out his tongue, which can be hooked onto an opponent. Then he drags that opponent to the smoker.

What it looks like, but this is FPS, I want it to be a hook like pudge wars has.

Just checked Left 4 Die. Very poor imo. It just pulls constantly to the caster.

Instead of triggering it, maybe this would work.

I made a projectile that fires to an offset from caster position, like 6 units away from the caster. When the projectile reaches its location, it dies and fires the same projectile back to the caster. I could give the projectile an augment ability that kills itself when close enough to an enemy unit, and applies a pulling debuff from the target to the caster.

Tentacles I haven't really looked into how they work yet, as they're just for aesthetics, not the bones of the ability.

The idea is you steal some of the Left 2 Die mechanics (tenticle, and the pull) and you customize when they happen to suite your needs.

Right, thats more of aesthetics of the spell itself though. Creating a line that snags a units feels out of my league.

Did they fix the destroy persistent bug yet?

Probably will end up paying someone in the end of all things. Its alot of work. So, frustrating.
