I see you want to keep it as real as possible, but... you should train to make it not blend into the background. I posted on your shield how to do it, and how it'd look like.

When you're saying '...of the alliance' am I thinking about the alliance from the warcraft universe, which base colour is blue. So if this is the same Alliance as I'm thinking about, should you change the backround colour to blue and add a lionhead somwhere.
But this is a very usefull and well made icon otherwise
