Hawkwing: The light escaping from his hand in between his fingers looks bad. It makes the hand very messy and somewhat unidentifiable.

You don't have to change the Improvable Things, but it would be better.

Generally hands don't look good on icons, and they really limit the usefulness of it.

Plus it's good to fit both a nicely made hand and a "proper" spell effect into 64 pixels.
So I suggest you try to remove the hand and work on a really cool effect for mana burn instead.

wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too blurry. you can hardly tell at all what is going on within this icon. the beam from the hand is... passsable... but the hand itself is just a very akward mess. the shading and highlighting is good but fingers don't bend circulary... have then bend properly

It's not that blurry...
You have great shading and highlights but you need to work on shape. Use a reference picture, it usually helps, and practice drawing the shape before you actually put it into your icon. The quality of it is fantastic, but the shape is just too off. Keep working on this one.

When painting a hand that should be "grabbing" the spell, draw a somewhat 3d-circle and draw the fingers "around" it, will make life a lot easier.
