Didn't download it yet, but I think the snow is actually not from the model, it's the generic blizzard EFFECT, which you can easily modify.
(Tell me if I'm wrong)

I can assume that the snow is also a particle emmiter which emmits very small particles, and so, it makes em look like snow. Maybe you can edit the MDL and remove the particles one by one to see the result. And always keep a backup.

Are the sounds changed, or is it the normal Blizzard sound? (Like, when it hits the ground, it should make a electric sound)

If not, you should change that.

Its great, the icon is excellent and what else would you want. About the snowflakes... imo the snowflakes are perfect, at 1st i thought they were electrical particles before i saw they were the usual snowflakes. But since they look like Electrical particles, it makes the overall very detailed. And it doesnt look so much like blizzard. There is electric sound already.
