[General] A new button in the world editor?

I am not sure if it has always been there or just that I have never noticed it before. There is this very small icon at the bottom right corner of the World Editor next to the arrow keys for scrolling the map. It has an icon of the item Gem Fragment. Where I clicked on it, a message pops up that says "Gem Activated." Clicking it again will deactivate the so-called gem.

I was wondering if the button does anything else other popping up these messages. It probably does or will do something in future patches. Has anyone else discovered something?

It has always been there and doing a search would have been faster than making another thread about it.
