Review - Dyerocks
(Version March 2nd 2025)
Synopsis: Dyerocks is a melee map for up to six player, best suited for teams of 3 or one-on-one versus games. The map is laid out in shuriken shape with expansion gold mines limited to the central area (in team games), making the map revolve on heavy contesting of neutral objectives.
Map Aesthetics: First things first - I have never seen this tile mixture used before and I must say it looks gorgeous. I highly recommend you playing around with this mixture even more - perhaps another map. The mood is somehow mystical and plain, but still rich in contrast without being hard on the eyes. Similarly the minimap looks really clean and clear. Good job. Visual clarity is also otherwise superb. Good job.
Map Layout: The core layout is quite classical for a six-player map - heavy contesting for the central area neutral objectives. Not really much on this - clear but it works. One thing you could do is to adjust player priorities so that teams of two players would spawn mirrored, so it would be less random for 2-on-2 games. There are interesting tiny differences between the player spawn areas with creep camps positioned differently or a tree near the green camps for night elves - still mirrored equally for both teams.
Neutral Objectives: Creep strength and item drops look appropriate. Creeps form uniform and logical camps and their positioning is good. Customized unit skin used for the spawn location camps to give nice unique touch on them. Solid work.
Map Gameplay: A nice map for a quick (and aggressive) team game or for a longer 1-on-1 game. Approved.
