Review - Neomania
(Version March 11th 2025)
Synopsis: Neomania is a six-player melee map featuring a mixed tileset arranged in an open web-layout. Some pathways are blocked by rock chunks, allowing players to open them if desired, giving a small extra element to play around with, while the rest of the map follows very standard melee rules. Overall a solid melee map for up to six players or arranged teams.
Map Aesthetics: The map looks very good. Very Blizzard-like visuals despite using customized tileset. Visual clarity is good and layout looks clean. Good job. The central area could use a few more of decorative props (other than river rushes and lilypads), but ultimately the visual work is very good for a melee map.
Map Layout: A take on the classic spiderweb layout, giving various routes to encounter enemies. Quite interestingly the neutral objectives are placed in ring layout fashion (gold mines in outer ring only), reducing the importance of the central area (that still of course holds the Goblin Merchants). Solid layout
Neutral Objectives: Creep placement looks good and creeps form logical and thematic camps. Creep camp strength and item drops seem reasonable. Good job. Goblin Laboratory is very close to spawn.
Map Gameplay: Solid and clear melee map with quite a classic layout. Follows standard melee rules. Approved.
