I also urged you to make your thread show why your very nice creations belong in the icon section. Perhaps you can sway the people. Perhaps there's room for a subsection with AI generated icons?

There should be a place for them. We have a ported section in most assets departments so why not add an AI one for icons and later on other sections.
Of course the details and how things are run there needs to be discussed.

As the site owner, you have the authority to create and enforce rules. In 2023, the idea of restricting AI is outdated. Numerous art creation sites, such as Etsy, Redbubble, and ArtStation, have already embraced AI methods.

I created a thread showcasing all the recently updated icons, but it seems like it will remain inactive forever

I haven't encountered any issues with people. In my opinion, it seems pointless to complain about resources (even those enhanced by AI) that don't generate any profit and are created for models that don't have an icon.

As the site owner I try not to be a dictator. By this I mean I try not to say "X is good because I think it is". If people make a good case for AI and others support it, I will deem it a good and safe step forward. In this case we have so much past of people being bothered by screenshot icons and free-hand that I won't change the rules on a whim without talking to people and making sure the right decision is being made. I am careful.

But I am also excited about harnessing the power of AI. I did not intend at all for you to just throw things on the floor.

I don't know if we need a separate section or if we just need to change the rules. A good icon is a good icon, regardless of how it was made. But hand-drawing artists will feel like they're putting in a lot of effort while AI-artists aren't. This will discourage some and these kinds of discussions is why it's hard to make the right choice as it will always be a compromise.

I guess, for a start, no AI edited or made icon will get more than the "Recommended" status. What say ye?
Or, a new badge can be made, the AI one instead of a new category/subcategory.
