Cooked meals are meant to be taken in town. They cannot be equipped in your accessory slot, thus, cannot be used in combat. Consumables that can be used in combat are equipped in accessory slots (like potions).

When you eat a cooked meal in town (eg. jellyfish), a variable will be saved and this is then loaded onto the next battle. After the effect activates (eg. Rage effect), the variable is reset to 0, and thus you will need to eat again for the next battle.

Oh, okay. Good to know. Sorry for another dumb question, but are Battle Points won through new battles (not previously fought ones)? I'm currently fighting through previously fought battles in order to test my skills.
