Hmm. I will be honest, it has been a while since I've spent much time thinking about such things and I've never been very innovative when it comes to custom spells.
I think Merlon's abilities (except his ultimate) don't really befit an admiral charcter, imo. Gardon can always use some spells that empower him at the cost of his soldiers.
That's what I can currently come up with, I'll have to think more about this topic.
In fact, I just got an idea myself.
If I ever decided for god-knows-what-reason to update the Second Book, I'd replace Gardon's ultimate with an ability that has the same effect but requires him to kill one of his own units first.
The orcs will get so much love, to the point where it's almost like blizzard played your campaigns and didn't like the way you treated them.
The undead will sort of get both buffed and nerfed on some spots.
The humans are pretty screwed. As if they didn't get trolled enough already!
