Shadow Demons
ShadowDemons.png

A race of the demonic horrors and unholy monstrosities,
hailing from darkness of the underground realm of The Abyss.

They use their immensive physical powers and unnatural fiendish abilities to slaughter their mortal opponents.
Shadow Demons can also devour the souls of their fallen enemies, increasing own powers and gaining access to new abilities with every kill.

Every time a demon kills an enemy, it devours its soul, thus increasing own Power.
All demons gain bonus stats when devouring souls. Some of them also unlock new abilities, while others can even evolve into brand new units.

Additionally, demons can consume their own brethren, thus adding their power level to their own.
However, they can only consume those brethren who are weaker than them, while a slight portion of Power is lost due to penalty.

Shadow Demons are able to shift between the material realm of mortals and the ethereal realm of shadows.
Doing so makes them partially invisible - they can't be attacked if the enemy has no True Sight and they also dissapear from the enemy minimaps.

However, the players themselves can still determine their positions by the special effects they create when moving in the shadow form.
Shadow Walk has no duration, meaning that it lasts only until canceled, it also consumes no mana.

Army and units
-Tier 1 basic units:
1. Horror - Manifestations of filth and lesser demonic energies, whose shapeless forms resemble bulky, yet heavily deformed humanoid silhouettes.
  • Ceaseless Nightmare - Regenerates a portion of the health this unit loses over the course of 45 seconds after taking damage.
  • Immortal Evil - Turns this unit into a dark ethereal spirit upon death, allowing it to be revived later on if it does not get dispelled. This ability also triggers even if the unit is killed through the Soul Consumption mechanic.
[combat = melee] [class = infantry] [size = medium] [type = living] [limit cost = 100]

2. Shadow Spawn - Shapeless ethereal horrors spawned from the darkness of the Demonic Abyss.
Consuming Darkness - Causes this unit's attacks to apply a stacking debuff onto its enemies, which reduces their movement speed and increases the damage they take from futher attacks with each stack.
Their other unique trait, is that they can still attack while their 'Shadow Walk' is active, spending mana for each attack. Lastly, instead of consuming each other like other demons do, Shadow Spawns merge together into a stronger being. Whenever a greater Spawn dies, it splits into multiple lesser ones instead.

-Tier 1 advanced units:
1. Darkling - Small and vicious demonic beasts who usually come swarming in hordes, destroying everything on their path. Their combat stats might be low, but their numbers are truly huge and their cost is cheap. They also have no penalty when consuming each other, meaning that absolutely no power is lost when one Darkling consumes all its other brethren. Additionally, the benefits they gain from increasing their Power are more significant compared to other demons. By consuming enough souls, a darkling can evolve into a creature more dire and ferocious than before.
[combat = melee] [class = beast] [size = small] [type = living] [limit cost = 75]

-Tier 2 basic units:
1. Ravager - Fearsome abyssal warriors whose strength and cruelty has no match amongst any of the mortal kinds. Their 'Indomitability' skill allows them to gain health from mana and gain mana from kills, increasing their overall self-sustain. They also have a unique skill called "Deathblow" which increases the critical damage they deal upon Special Hits, while also increasing their chance of performing such attacks by providing a passive bonus to their Combat attribute, thus drastically increasing their overall damage output. The efficiency of both of these abilities increases with the amount of devoured souls.
[combat = melee] [class = infantry] [size = medium] [type = living] [limit cost = 200]

2. Summoner - Malevolent spellcasters whose supportive abilities open a vast room for the strategic play for the whole race. Their 'Demonic Rift' spell can transport allied demons around the map, or it can be ued to preserve individual ones. Their other basic ability called 'Soul Siphon' provides their brethren with a safe way to share their powers with others. Unlockable spells include powerful damage and mana-sustain buffs. Additionally, if a Summoner devours enough souls for himself, he can become an elite offensive spellcasters with a completely new set of destructive and self-sustaining abilities.
[combat = ranged] [class = infantry] [size = medium] [type = living] [limit cost = 175]

-Tier 2 advanced units:
1. Terror - Manifestations of the mortal fear, these nightmarish demons fill the hearts of their enemies with unnatural feelings of horror and dread. They share the same abilitis as their smaller and un-evolved version, Horrors. Their most prominent feature, however, is the ability to affect their enemies with Fear through their mere presence, attacks, or the use of their AoE abilities. Beside disabling enemy units, the Fear effect also allows Terrors to feed upon the weakened enemies, passively leeching their health over time.
[combat = melee] [class = infantry] [size = large] [type = living] [limit cost = 250]

2. Screecher -
[combat = ranged] [class = flying] [size = medium] [type = living] [limit cost = 175]

3. Abyss Spawn -
[combat = ranged] [class = beast] [size = large] [type = ethereal] [limit cost = 400] [limit = 4]

-Tier 2 advanced+ units:
1. Dreadfiend - Elite demonic warlords who reign over the minor demons on the battlefield. They gain full Power value when consuming other demons, and their attacks can auto-execute enemies whose health is low, making it easier for them to secure their kills. They also have an array of powerful combat and self-sustain abilities to choose from, however, in order to unlock them, they must devour enough souls first. Every Dreadfiend unlocks their abilities individually, meaning that different Dreadfiends can end up having different abilities. Last but not least, they also have "Immortal Evil" ability which can prevent these elite units from being lost, however, a portion of their souls is still lost upon death.
[combat = melee] [class = infantry] [size = large] [type = living] [limit cost = 400] [limit = 4] [elite]
-Tier 3 ultimate units:
