Yeah, I know. I am not a pro working with textures, and I am also discovering the shadows and focuses on paint.NET. I've also had to mirror the Zombie texture to make sure I could use both sides for different ideas such as bone arms or legs.
That was exactly what I was doing, based on the original sprites from Diablo 1. I separated the "must edit" parts within different layers, changed them and edited. But since those custom textures are just for the demonstration map, I intend to improve'em in the long run.
