The very look that usually heralds troubles or adventures... Or both.
Ok my hate speech because im hater:
It actually reminds me of new style of portraits for Baldurs gate 3, just realistic and boring.
This method started with neverwinter nights 2 and dragon age, but at least dragon age origins had some configurable settings for facial expressions so companions in avatars had emotions in it. Bg3 characters share same facial expressions depending on race and body build. Neverwinter nights 1 and bg 1-2 had selectable portraits that drawn by artist and they were pretty good but very limited in person's appearance. I saw this in Pathfinder and Pillars of eternity games but they use this due to medium quality or reusing face models on npcs
