No they are punishing donson for being apart of the Alliance and for being a traitor. And plus for conspiracy with evil.

Yeah. They are hypocrites. But they do it for a different reason. They are fighting for what they believe is right and they do not have a demon leader.
Basically they are the redeemers. Crude, Brutal but effective.
But they are not corrupted they will not slaughter innocents. Unless it is completely necessary like if the innocents try and take up arms. The Brotherhood would just kill the entire village because leaving a single survivor = vengeance.

The Scarlet Crusade also started with a lot of good intensions, but ended up corrupted anyways. A force driven on hate is easy to corrupt
