Surprises me he wasn't more surprised when he heard of a peon savior. Well, I don't mind it as I actually would want my beloved peon characther to seem a little more heroic ^^
Well the ones that were in the great cities got corrupted somehow as their soldiers are now pure darkness. Which means. Chaos got some servants, the great city of fire and darkness remain on Azeroth.. But I don't think they follow the light anymore.
Blah don't change things, it fucks up your lore.. Let it stay simple: The Brotherhood turned against the Lagoshians, the same reason the Gilneans left the real Alliance. Because the Alliance needed Gilneas more, than Gilneas needed the Alliance. The conclusion = The Brotherhood turned against the Alliance of Lagosh because they got nothing good from being allied.. and because you're evil.
