No, he's not human, he's an Egilian, well, formerly
Here's his story
Edgar, the second son of the General of Egilian by the sixteenth generation, was born, with the Blood Lord's Curse, the Red Eye. A sickness that inherits within the eye, and causes its wearer bloodlust, anger and madness, he's father couldn't have his son the worse of sickness Egilian has ever had. So he used Death's Deal, a forbidden magic that only the Phoenixus line can use, where the user makes a deal with Death in exchange for his soul. This Edgar's father used, and thus was his soul solded. But, Death cannot take away the Blood Lord's Curse, for its curse is eternity. So Death merely created a wall in Edgar's mind, a barrier that seals the dark side of the Red Eye, but not all, and this side of the Red Eye merged with Edgar's original soul, creating another being, this was Edge, but assumed named Edgar.
For years to come, Edgar learned his power, controlling it, without awakening the curse. By the time the Gryphonus began their war, he's powers were unlocked, the anger and hatred within his heart, the Red Eye, awakened.
After the Multiverse War, Edgar saw the Firebird's vision, his race will fall, if ever the Phoenixus line were all slain, so he broke Fate's law of the future, he let Edward exiled and was saved, but he, did not. Fate found what he did, and he's soul will be vanquished, but Edgar did not want to waste, and he used Death's Deal, Death agreed to his deal, to save his other soul, the Red Eye, Death broke the barrier and Edgar gave all his positive thoughts to the sickness, and thus, Baron was born, Edgar says his last words and forever his soul was sold, and vanquished by Fate.
Baron, which he prefers to call rather than Edge, live as an adventurer, knowing and telling, he keeps secret of his powers, but in truth, his power is the Red Eye, since the Blood Lords were vanquished, some of Crimson's power stays, within Baron himself. And Baron was the good side of the Red Eye and Crimson the evil side, but learning to be controlled.
