Is HotS for free? Like I can register in Battle.net, download and play HotS for free? I know the skins needs to be bought but I'm just asking if I can play it for free.

Only 7 heroes a week are free and these completely change (with few exceptions) every week. However all heroes can be brought with in-game currency which is earned by playing.

you can also test every hero in the shop before buying it. There is a special test map with one lane, a support team mate (AI) and one enemy (AI).

Also with the next bigger patch (either next tuesday or when artanis comes) there will be mercanaries and a training doll (to test dps) added to this test map.
