It's a game by Avalanche Studios.

From now on, I'll copy text.

Just Cause is a third-person sandbox video game by Swedish developer Avalanche Studios and published by Eidos Interactive. It was released on September 22, 2006 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360 in Europe. It was released in North America on September 27, 2006. The fictional area explored during the game is described as being over 250,000 acres (1,012 km2; 391 sq mi) in size, with 21 story missions and over 300 side missions to complete.[1] As of April 23, 2009, it has sold more than 1 million copies.
A sequel to the game developed by Avalanche Studios and Eidos Interactive and published by Square Enix titled, Just Cause 2, was released on March 23, 2010.

The core gameplay consists of elements of a third-person shooter and a driving game, with a large, open world environment to move around in. On foot, the player's character is capable of walking, swimming, and jumping, as well as utilizing weapons and basic hand to hand combat. Players can take control of a variety of vehicles, including cars, boats, fixed wing aircraft, helicopters, and motorcycles. Players can also perform stunts with their cars in which they can stand on the roof and jump to another car, or choose to open their parachute while still in motion on the roof. Other key features of the game include skydiving, base jumping, and parasailing (by latching onto a moving car or boat while one's parachute is deployed).
The open, non-linear environment allows players to explore and choose how they wish to play the game. Although storyline missions are necessary to progress through the game, players can complete them at their own leisure. When not taking on a storyline mission, players can free-roam. However, doing so can attract unwanted and potentially fatal attention from the authorities.
The player can also partake in a variety of optional side missions, for example, liberating a village or taking over a drug cartel hideout. These are generally (as indicated by most critics) quite repetitive but are necessary to gain points with certain factions.

A demo of the Xbox 360 game was released on August 24, 2006 on Xbox Live Marketplace. The PC demo followed in a premiere release at GameSpot.[4]

Just Cause 2 .. (Full Wikipedia Copy)

Just Cause 2 is a sandbox-style action video game. It was released in North America on March 23, 2010, by Swedish developer Avalanche Studios and Eidos Interactive,[4] and was published by Square Enix. It is the sequel to the 2006 video game Just Cause.[5][6]
Just Cause 2 employs the Avalanche Engine 2.0; an updated version of the engine used in Just Cause.[6] The game is set on the other side of the world from the original Just Cause, on the fictional tropical island of Panau in Southeast Asia. Rico Rodriguez returns as the protagonist, aiming to overthrow the evil dictator Pandak "Baby" Panay and confront his former boss, Tom Sheldon.[6]

The game play is similar to that of its predecessor; the player is free to roam the game's open world at will, not having to focus on the game's storyline.
Several new additions and improvements to the game have been highlighted by lead designer, Peter Johansson. The AI has been rewritten to use a planning system which enables enemies to perform varying actions. In game enemies can use the environment to their advantage, taking cover behind objects and adapting dynamically to the objects around them. Additional elements include vertical game play and a manual aiming system that allows the player to have full control over the cross-hair, allowing for the pinpointing of specific limbs with varied crippling effects. Just Cause 2 also has an adaptive difficulty system, gradually scaling the difficulty as the player does more in the game.
There are several new weapons in Just Cause 2, including a rocket launcher with laser-controlled rockets, a one-handed grenade launcher, remote-triggered C4, and a detachable mounted mini-gun. There are several new vehicles, including a Boeing 737, with a greater variance in the handling of different vehicles. Ground surfaces now have a large influence on the player's controls, with respect to the abilities of road vehicles on rough terrain. There is also a real-time deformation system and individual components that can come loose from vehicles.
Initially, the player must acquire weapons and vehicles in the field of their own accord. Early in the game, the player encounters a black market supplier, from whom weapons and vehicles can be purchased, with an option to have them delivered to the player's location via helicopter drop. As the game progresses, additional weapons, vehicles, and the extraction option become available on the black market. All weapons and vehicles on the black market have parameters that can be upgraded in several steps, by building upgrades with weapon and vehicle components. There are over 2,000 parts that the player can acquire.[7]
Notable features of Just Cause 2 include the dual-grappling hook, which gives players the ability to tether objects to each other. There are no limitations to what can be tethered, allowing tethering of enemies to vehicles. This feature can be utilized in game play situations, such as high speed vehicle chases, wherein the player can use the dual-hook to attach a pursuing vehicle to the ground, immediately forcing it to a stop and causing immense damage to the vehicle.
In addition, the player is given a 're-loadable' stunt parachute which is always ready to be deployed, even if it had been deployed and discarded only moments before. This can be combined with the grappling hook and used for a fast method of transport in a technique known as the "slingshot maneuver".
The PlayStation 3 version of the game allows the user to capture video of their game play and either export it to the XMB or upload it to YouTube from within the game.[8]

On February 24 Mycoldman (Mike Oldman) announced via Twitter that a playable demo was to be released on March 4 on PSN, XBL and Steam. The demo features an area of 35sq miles located in the desert. There are light aircraft and many civilian and military vehicles available. The demo begins when Bolo Santosi, leader of the rebel group known as the Reapers, issues instructions to the player to cause chaos. There is a 30 minute time limit.
