Thank you! The models you see in the artwork section are made from scratch, the ones you see on the in-game screenshots are highly edited wow models, they are in placeholder status.

freaking login issues and entered text lost..

So. Im Modeller to finishing up these models made by original creator.

Orc House death animation

Will be tweaking death animations.

Most of the techniques i already use maybe they arent used well enough. Physics not my thing, all practical.

As those who follow the progression of Starcraft 2 may know. Blizazrd released their own warcraft 3 assets pack for ptr test. I made a version of warcraft 1 mod using this pack, so those who wanna play some Warcraft 1 multiplayer can do this on the PTR server.

New Release- Black Morass

We released a new map with many improvements compared to the PTR test version. Here are the details:

Gameplay modes

Our goal was to recreate Warcraft 1 the closest we can but we received some mixed opinions about parts of the original gameplay. Meanwhile some people wanted to experience the exact old gameplay, many person pointed on the parts that didn't age so well. As the result of these reviews we implemented two gameplay mode, The Classic and Modern one. At the creation of the game the host can choose between these two option.

Classic: Are you a Warcraft 1 veteran? Do you want to experience the game as it was in 1994? Then Classic mode is for you! This mode includes every limit you had in the original game. Unit selection is limited to four units, There are no Rally Points, Buildings don't have queue.

Modern: You always wanted to try the classic game but the hard control scared you away? Do you want the gameplay more resemble to today's standards. Then try Modern mode. The controls are exactly the same as Starcraft 2. No selection limit, Rally points and five building queue.

The map.

Our first map is set in the iconic swamp of Azeroth. Black Morass is the place where the orcs found their way into the kingdom of Azeroth. Medivh opened the dark portal. Today you can't find Black Morass on the map as it is divided into the Blasted Lands and Swamp of Sorrows. The Portal slowly drained every energy around itself. It is designed for 2v2 gameplay . There are ten Gold Mines on this map (the four starting ones+ six additional one). Note that in Warcraft 1 you have only one Town Hall, therefore the more Gold Mine you deplete the more your workers have to travel. Prepare for a fight for the mines in longer games. In the lobby you can choose your start location. Start location 1 and 2 are on the left side of the map, 3 and 4 are the right ones. Please ALWAYS choose your start location or your units won't spawn.

Future plans

We are planning continuous update on the mod with adding new arts, adding more options into the lobby and fixing any bug we experience. In future version we hope to open the race picking too but first we need Blizzard to fix custom races in lobby. We also seek to finish the campaign so you can experience 24 mission of the first war. Those who love Warcraft 2 Tides of Darkness and Beyond the Dark Portal i can assure that the multiplayer remake is in progress.

How To play:

Search for „COA" or „Wc1". Create a game (or click play game to find and open game) choose the gameplay mode and make it open for players. Note: you need to connect to the europian server. Please make sure everyone picked a start location and you can't see „CHOOSE" in the lobby. Thank you for reading the post and hope you will participate in the first war between Orcs and Humans.

I have created a SC2 clan called 'Orcs In Space' (tag: ORCISH). The point is to play every SC2 map related to Warcraft, especially this one. Everyone feel free to join if interested. Personally, I don't care much for Starcraft 2 vanilla/universe, so this is a way to get a community for playing what we do like =).

Sounds great. Meanwhile i'm a little busy atm I definiately join :). Edit: You shall do a group rather, so everyone can join freely
Also after June i plan to work on polishing the wc1 stuff and finishing a warcraft 2 multiplayer remake.

Well at the moment i have a busy life and to be honest i expected a bit more activity around the map from the player-base. Also I'm looking for a team because around the first release time i already worked alone on this, except the black morass map.

But i did some progress on allowing people to choose their race with full UI.

Well - I suspect that once there is a release there might be more activity. But yes, the SC2 community is awful like that, it's very hard to get people to play actually good maps.

It's also a matter of presentation. I believe if you talked to Vengeancekael or one of the other administrators about giving the map some more publicity that would work in your favour. A better-looking first post will be good as well. You could take a look at our hosted project for some inspiration on how we decided to do things:

Thank you very much. I will update the thread with this.

NEW VERSION UP, Search for COA or WC1 on the Europian server:
  • You can choose your race (Zerg=Orc Protoss=Human)
  • Starting Location choose removed

Sadly the human UI has bugs i need to solve first, so i will implement it later again.

Looking for 2D and 3D artists to finish already started arts and create new ones.
 
played the map 2 days ago, didn't realise there was a thread on it on hive. I don't quite remember what the resource costs were in wc1, but those upgrades are very, very, very expensive :D

Two things you could add to streamline the process would be to make rally points on dead trees still tell the worker to go seek out nearby trees to harvest, just like wc3 does. Also the ability to give orders to peons that are currently building something. Other than that, very impressed with what you have done so far. Good job. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the wc2 and wc3 version :)

Thank you for the good words. i will look for a solution. The upgrade costs are the original ones. You need to carefully choose which one you want and when :)

Hm. It seems you're using some Scars of Conflict resources? Looks interesting. :)

I hope we're credited! Or Mr.Goblin, at least, since I don't see any of our models yet.

Yeah i use the icons from the resource pack as they look a bit better in sc2 than the original ones. Thou i may change it back so the styles don't clash. If they remain credit is given ofc.

The "sea" is a lower cliff ground. The units use the path of the lower cliff and raised to the level of the water.

I planned to release a demo around October-november, but we got a new major 3.0 patch for Starcraft 2 which screwed many stuff in arcade maps. First i fixed those problems in the wc1 multiplayer already on arcade (and added a better Spearman model) and now I'm back to Warcraft 2. Hopefully i can keep the November release.
