MAP INFORMATION:

MUST USE LATEST PATCH OF WARCRAFT 3. v1.32.9

Another Alternate melee in my series of maps involving lore races from the Warcraft universe. This addition allows the players to explore and play as the menacing race of the Dark Iron Clan Dwarves, the valorant Wildhammer Clan, or the stoic Bronzebeard Clan.

The stoic dwarves of Ironforge are an ancient race of robust humanoids who live beneath the snow-capped mountains of Khaz Modan. The dwarves under their command have always been fast allies with the Humans, and they revel in the prospects of battle and storytelling alike.

The Wildhammers are a clan of dwarves that primarily reside in The Hinterlands and Twilight Highlands after the War of the Three Hammers. Renowned for their close bond with gryphons, they treat these animals as equals in battle instead of pets, leading to numerous successes in the Second and Third Wars. They also value nature and have close ties to shamanism.

The Dark Iron Clan is a highly isolated group of Dwarves that still hold deep hatred for their Ironforge brethren. After the War of the Three Hammers was lost, the Dark Iron Dwarves retreated back deep into the underground; where the Ragnaros the Firelord was awaken. Ragnaros enslaved the frail dwarves, forcing them to do all his bidding, and forcing them to live with his fiery minions running rampant. The Dark Iron Clan though not nearly as mighty or fortunate as the Ironforge and Wildhammer brethren, have developed a keen skill in subterfuge, dark magic, and assassination; yet they still retain their natural ingenuity for mechanics and stonework.

I really hate the Dark Iron.
It's kinda like the evil Grimtotem and luckily there are Darkhorn, and Shadowmane other Grimtotem tribes they could have like the Dark Iron.

Well I know that a lot of people don't like the Dark Iron Clan; thus the reason why there has not been a single custom race of them. For this reason I decided to make one.

Personally, I don't have any problems with Dark Iron Clan (in fact one of my favorite factions in WoW lore).
The race is definitely unique from abilities to units I have no complaints. There are a few minor grammar issues, though.
Just one question: Did you ever consider making a mod with all of your races?
Good luck on your future races!

Grammar issues? Could you point out a few? They can be hard to spot by myself.
I have thought of placing all my races into one map, but then I realized that the file size would end up being far too large for most people. Even with all the file size reduction programs, the map would still be too large; containing hundreds of models and icons.

Regarding grammar issues:
All your Heroes say Revive "Heroname" instead of Summon "Heroname".
(Pyromagi) Circle of Fire
The Pyromagi sends o flurry of fire...
The Pyromagi sends a flurry of fire...

(Incinerator) Charring Flesh
After researching the upgrade, ability tooltip says nothing or #0.

Not a lot of them, just a few :)

Very interesting. I really have next-to-no interest in Darkiron (Dark Iron?) Dwarves, so it's cool to see someone's take on them. I'm surprised you don't have more "sentient fire elemental"-type units trainable; core hounds? Might help you with having too many similar units on the battlefield ("dwarf-dwarf-dwarf-dwarf" :p). I ran into the same thing with Trolls and have really tried to diversify with a variety of creatures & mounts & such; it helps.

Not if you use a custom MPQ, perhaps even a SEMPQ so it all loads up automatically. Look into it; it's what me and several other (race) modders do to beat that exact issue. :p

Still better than WBC dark dwarves where only dwarf unit was the worker (and a hero if we count them).

Honestly, I have no idea of who those are haha.

Just a handful of bandits who are now mounding at Strahnbrad and nearby camps, they have terrible hatred to the alliance, who exiled every citizen away and to the horde, who forsook them when they needed them the most. It's currently being led by Aliden Perenolde, the former prince of Alterac.

My suggestion is this: Human race but oriented with bandits, assassins and renegade wizards and warlocks.

Nice race, was fun to play! Really liked the models and icons you used.

Also, not sure if this was intentional or not, but the effect for Pyormagi's ignite was at their origin (rather than their chest/center, I assume). Speaking of casters, really nice concepts you got there, the Shadowmancer guys were my favorite, although the higher-mana-better-efficiency thing for Pyromagi was pretty cool too. :D

Though, just a note, you might wanna look into these tooltips: Research Poison Bomb, Learn Surprise Strike, Learn Shadowburn and Dominators. You forgot to add a space between words in 3 of them, and Shadowburn looks really weird (doesn't mention anything for Level 3/cuts off after Level 2).

Speaking of tooltips, it'd be nice if you focused most hotkeys to be on the left side of the keyboard (seeing as to most players being right-handed), it's rather inconvenient to have something on B or D and another thing on I or O. :p

One last thing, why not give Interconnection a cooldown? I think it'd be nice, making the player choose whether to use it at that moment or save it for later. Anyway, an interesting race in overall, hope to see more races from you in the future!

Thanks man! The origin thing was intentional; didn't want it to look just like Immolation. The Shadowmancer unit was one of the longest units time-wise that I worked on. He required 6 abilities and 3 extra dummy units just to work! Glad you liked it.

Thanks for the tooltips; I'll look into it. I was actually just thinking of doing the Azeroth Wars thing, and make all the tooltips Q,W,E,R, etc.

I wanted Interconnected to have no cooldown because that ability chooses buildings on the random, and I wanted the player to choose what buildings would get selected by trial-and-error.

This is one the most fun custom races I ever played with warcraft 3, well done Wa666r! Also kindy weird orcnet gave this only a 3 out of 5. This is better than most other custom race maps.

- cool unit ideas with interesting abilities.
- love all the custom icons and models. High quality stuff.
- finally a race that offers offensive defense strategies. The deployable war tanks, upgrades for towers etc.

The only thing that bothered me that the race is a bit too strong when it comes to resource gathering. You definitely should keep the resource carts though cause it is unique (reminds of the Ox Carts in Age of Mythology), but make them more expensive etc.

5/5 from me.

Thanks man. A lot of effort went into this map.
I am not sure why the map only received 3/5, maybe he is just a strict grader; all the other maps he approved by me also received a 3/5.

I have noticed a high rate of gold income sometimes when I tested them, but my lumber was always lacking. But I will definitely look into balancing it out some more.

P.S: I loved Age of Mythology

you know, now that i've been thinking why not make a race for the elements?

EXAMPLE: Fire Elementals: the "base" is actually Ragnaros but he cant move unless you get a certain upgrade that allows him to realocate to a nearby gold mine (pretty much like the night elfs) he would also have attacks like hurling massive firebolts and stuff but all of his abilities need to be researched or else he would be too op. Im not sure if adding heroes would be a good idea since you will have a base that can assist your troops but the heroes would be his liutenants like Baron Geddon, etc.

I like the way they mine gold. However not sure it is balanced, i mean how fast do they amass gold due to distance between mine and a resource cart used. Seems, one or two workers can mine enough gold if resource cart is placed close. If I am right, you may give cart a special immobile form, that allows collecting resources.

I think your reasoning behind making a dark iron clan race is excellent.
I found most people hated alliances races especially dwarves because of their racials, I however love Dwarven lore in any games.
Doing DI is a stroke of genius 5/5

I really love playing this race and I think you did an awesome job capturing a real "Dark Iron" feel. I just wish the Skulkers had some sort of Stealth ability to ambush enemies!

One thing I noticed, after researching the Incinerator's ability, it seemed... broken. The tooltip was broken on the Incinerator itself, and gave random gibberish nonsense, and it didn't appear active even after research. Never saw it go off, either.

Lika all the other races this one is awesom too. However besides Dalaran, imo this one needs an update the most. Some things that might improve:
  1. Buiding fortification is kinda op, escpecially on towers, maybe make it increase a bit less hitpoints.
  2. It would imo be better if their towers start as scout towers, and then later be able to upgrade to both the current tower, and a cannon tower. Just think that Dark Iron Dwarves need a Cannon Tower for their vibe.
  3. Might be good if Dark Iron buildings were only able to be built on lava, like Undead Blight.
  4. Some models need to be changed, like the Mountain King foor soldier or the Shadowmancer, there quite a few Dwarf footmen on this site, and imo Shadowmancer would be better as a female. Generaly a few female units would be awesome.
  5. Remove the Dragon and Helicopter, they kinda don't fit at all.
  6. Would be nice to see some Dark Iron Core Hounds, if there is a model.
  7. Would be awesome to see some reference to them worshiping Ragnaros.
  8. Imo the Sorcerer hero should be female, and there should be one hero to reference their Thanes.
