Yeah, it's weird for the skin guy talk about the model stuff but here's a point, the animation can help me derive an idea of concepts here. Take Zombie model for example, yeah sure the animation feel slacked here but the attack animation can sell the martial art fighter as he take a bit of force and hard swing. This is followed by a posture and a surprisingly menacing walk animation.
I know certain time warcraft would recycle their animation and I have little to talk about but usually when they make for a that unit and take to another one, there is a good chance the borrowed unit benefit the animation better than the original.
I give you another example: Ghoul animation is intended as it be but you can turn ghoul into a robot. Not only make the death animation make more sense (which make me wonder about other ghoul skins btw), You can turn this into a degenerate cyborg who would turn aganist their creator and that idea would sell like hot cake.
It's a difficult topic but it give insight that any element can turn into an idea.
