What kind of maps/battlegrounds would you like to see?

I'd acctually be really interested in a map that has less impactive objectives,
so it comes down to a classic AoS. I'm curious if HotS can also provide the same
amount of fun without the objectives, as I find them sometimes really distractive
from the actual momentum of the match.

Also on the other hand very objective based maps would also be interesting. But
not like they are right now, where objectives pop up from time to time, but where
there is something like a small story behind it. This would also mean that in the
course of a match, the objectives could become asymmetric.

In an example, a map would be devided in several phases:
1. Both teams try to take over an central control point.
2. Once a team has control over the center of the map, they try to keep it
under their control, while the other team tries to siege their defensive lines.
--> should the sieging team be successful continue with phase '1.'
--> should the defending team be successful they for example have mined
all of the magical crystals, they pack it on a cart and try to escort it to their
base (continue with phase '3.')
3. Both teams try to take control over the 'cart' (the match would now be
similar to the campaign mission with illidan in the cart)
--> once a team has sucessfully escorted the 'cart' to their base they have
to defend it for some time ....


And a last point would be, that there is no 'futuristic' looking battlefield yet,
something like a Protoss mothership.

What do you think? What maps would you like to see? Or would you change
things in the existing maps?

IMO, if HotS doesn't have objectives it will be the most boring AoS ever.

In other AoS games you have grinding phase so its less reliant on map objectives.
You have to focus to not die and farm at the same time, whether it be jungling,
laning or ganking. You have last hits (and deny in Dota) which is more than enough
instead of global map objectives.

But since HotS doesn't have items, you basically just push and gank and barely go into
base other than to defend and when you die. HotS is aimed at casual gamers for an easy
to get into AoS with less stuff to focus on, so removing map objectives makes the game
too boring and too easy. You have to have some way of "advantage" besides team skill and
individual skill that will sway the battle in your favor or against you.

In HotS that advantage are the map objectives and neutral creep camps.
In other AoS games, there are items and neutral creep camps including map bosses like
Roshan, Nashor, Dragon, Lizard, Golem etc.

With that being said, I wouldn't mind a custom game that has no map objectives and
is like Howling Abyss (ARAM) from LoL. But that's my taste, not everyone elses.

I want a game more or less like world edit with players actively playing the game im editing.
like a god game, but with more things do do (drop creep camps, give units) but maybe rely on the players to tribute me? i dunno...

I want a Sci-fi Map.

Seriously, Most of the game have medieval, egyptian and high-fantasy maps.

and there is another that is Egyptian too and one coming from Diablo 3 (Heaven vs Hell) but we need Starcraft and Warcraft seriously.

the fall of Aiur, one side Protoss and the other Zerg.

or

The battle of Quel'Thalas, one side undead another high elves

I myself would prefer maps that are completely unconnected to warcraft starcraft etc. Maybe put in same or similar world, but real places and so on, idk it feels like abusing warcraft/starcraft/diablo etc.
I would like to see maps that are either made completely by artist, cause making maps can be art if it's done properly not just taking one model like medieval world, and adding some stuff liek time travel or something like this.
Or, maps based on some famous ideas and concepts, liek ww2, feudal japan, or some common ideas that most of the humanity (or western world) share in their fantasy, like ragnarok etc. I would like to see something like in sucker punch, which is a great movie, few maps that all have different setting and some mechanism to put them all together. The Nexus idea is an example of that, although only by it blizzard did not stand out from all the other games.

Tomb of the Spider Queen - What do you think?

As the title says, what is your opinion about the new battle ground in HotS?

For me, it's safe to say that this might be my new favourite map. It's what I meant when I wanted to see a map with 'less distractive' objectives. You do not need to rush across the whole map to get to the objective, as you get the gems in your lane and can get to the eggs very fast. The Webweavers also spawn in every lane. Still there is potential for teamfights, e.g. taking down an enemy with many gems and then zoning enemies away from them.

I also think the new map "Tomb of the Spider Queen" is one of the better ones, if not the best one. However, I think the objectives are really weak on that map compared to others. The spider mobs that spawns are really weak even for one person to handle. They don't deal a ton of damage either. They are only dangerous if left alone for a longer period of time since they spawn minions as time pass. A slight damage/hp buff would suit well. Otherwise, nothing wrong.

It's nice map.

What I would like to see are some like western maps with cowboys etc. Maybe put a villain as boss and cowboys as mercs. And objective could be a train robbery traon moves and you attack it for gold to drop, and if you take all gold train crashes xd. And with gold you make your creeps stronger, like you buy them better guns etc.

Also what i think would be nice is themed maps, like diablo theme and you can only take diablo heroes, maybe even good vs. Bad, and make it purely push map or make 2 different though well balanced objectives, so every theme has it special objective. Like bad guys summon some pushing demon, if rhey keep position and good guys need to recover some tirret like in sky temple. And bad guys can do objective during night, good during day.

Also maybe make some ww 2 or futuristic war map where main objective is to take big ass turret on the middle and then you can fire from it on global range
