Age of Warcraft

This mod introduces a multi-faction system to Warcraft III, by enhancing Blizzard’s official melee maps for now, and custom maps in the future. Our mod aims to add new playable factions (13 are currently playable), custom AIs, Tavern Heroes, a Bank for trading Gold and Wood, Faction Leaders, Siege Maps, and other features designed to enhance gameplay variety while staying true to the original experience.

Hello Everyone!
Today, I’m excited to announce the release of our Second expansion, which includes the following changes:

  • Two New Factions: The City-State of Theramore and the Amani Trolls enter the fray.
  • Faction Leader System: Every faction now has a unique Faction Leader that can only be created once per game.
If another player on the map has the same faction and creates the Faction Leader first, you will lose the ability to create that leader. Therefore, it is recommended to play with different factions. As you know, the Lich King will be especially powerful, featuring both land and flying animations. He is designed to feel like an end-game scenario. Faction Leaders will also have a special indicator when they are created.
  • Two New Tavern Heroes
  • Reworked Darkspear Buildings.
  • Balance and Hotkey fixes
  • And last but not least, 4 new maps: (2) Terenas Stand, (4) Borderlands, (6) Dustwallow Marsh, and (12) Icecrown. All maps have been adjusted to properly accommodate our mod.

Let me ask you something: Has any of the devs actually managed to defeat a Lich King? He's f*cking broken, you guys should do something about it, its like an actual cheat code to get the damned Boogie Man on the battlefield, it isn't even funny... As it stands, I don't think this is fit on the least for competitive play. Any match with that sucker is instant death for all. It is fine that he's tough, but this is laughable at best. The Lady Jaina, the Daughter of the Sea, mightiest Archmage on Azeroth, isn't any sort of match for him, by the way.

We have already said that he will be powerful. We wanted the players to give us feedback and make some balance changes. We will introduce a new building to the scourge and through a ritual-research, then you will be able to summon Lich King.

This is a really solid update and the Faction Leader system is the kind of mechanic that changes how you approach the early game entirely. Knowing that your opponent can lock you out of your own faction leader if they move faster adds a layer of strategic pressure that most mods in this space do not have. That alone is going to push players toward more diverse faction picks which is good for the overall meta.

Theramore and the Amani Trolls are interesting choices for the second expansion. Theramore brings a very different feel compared to the more established factions and the Amani have a visual identity that should look great alongside the reworked Darkspear buildings. Speaking of which, the Darkspear rework was overdue and I am curious how much the building aesthetics changed.

The Lich King as an end game scenario framing is smart design. I was taking a break on Tropical Casino Tropica casino when the notification for this thread came through and jumped back immediately because the Lich King announcement was the part I had been waiting for since the first expansion. Having both land and flying animations on a single unit at that power level is going to make the late game feel genuinely climactic rather than just a numbers check.

Icecrown as a 12 player map is ambitious. Looking forward to seeing how that plays out in practice with a full lobby.
