Make sure you disable the Windows firewall, it always gets in the way for some reason with Linksys routers.

It's wierd like that. I did exactly what you said when I had my Linksys, but it wouldn't work till I disabled Windows Firewall.

With my Dlink now, all I had to do was open the ports and I was good to go.

Nope.

Windows Firewall is basically only on because it doesn't recognize another software firewall. But that's okay, because you shouldn't need one. As long as you aren't trolling porn and crack sites 24/7, your hardware firewall that comes built into your Router should keep you safe from any hackers trying to access ports into your PC to compromise it.

You can turn it off and your system will still be just as secure.

Do you mean I should have another firewall than windows' on? But could it be so that there is some spyware in my computer and when I turn firewall off it will launch a virus or something?

No, absolutely not. Your hardware firewall built into your Router will protect your computer from being hacked. Anti Virus software will protect your PC against spyware and viruses.

Your PC will be perfectly fine when you disable the Windows Firewall. The world isn't going to come to an end.

[Resident of the USA]For awhile there was a law requiring every piece of software and hardware to have a back door built in for law enforcement. So Microsoft built back doors. Recently, it was overturned. Microsoft will still put in back doors to everything it builds.[/Resident of the USA]
Hackers find the back doors and make viruses, spy-ware, and proxies. If you run Windows, you can't turn off the back door.
