Lizardman Skyhunter

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
Although Gorynyches and Ziliants are powerful in combat, true aerial domination is made by the Skyhunters. The best of spear throwing lizardmen are chosen to be skyhunters. Skyhunters ride pterodons rather than ziliants because of the pterodons superior mobility in the air. Skyhunters are evasive fighters rather than head on fighters and will soar high in altitude to dive on airborne foes. While quite formidable in the air, Skyhunters are not very affect versus foes on the ground.

This is my second to last installment to air units for the Lizardman race. I hope you enjoy it.

So I changed the pterodon significantly making it look more Cretaceous rather than Triassic. The wrap is kind of messy but all things considered (it uses furbolg ursa texture) I think it turned out OK. Also I optimized it. reducing size by alot.

The teeth thing is true, i think it looks kinda weird this way, not like it's visible ingame though
Now i don't know anything about wrap n shit, i'm not a modeler but i can tell you this model looks well made

the thing with warcraf3 models is that they are designed to be low-poly, which means that each mesh detail should only point out the overall shape, leaving the textures to do the details and so on, thus the excessive mesh like each separate tooth is really unneeded, due to war3's configuration to run on pretty low- filesize models. it too can tolerate high poly, but not as much as other games..

so.. i think that limiting to low-poly in warcraft3 also helps the model maker think a lill bit outside the box, and thus create something that is both eye candy and has low-ish filesize

so.. i hope my lill wall of text was useful and didn't send anyone into a nap :p cheers :ogre_haosis:

So I changed the Internal name and other changes....
it looks cool as a concept, just needs a decent rewap.. and maybe a different rider. maybe permission? :p

but we are getting off topic here :p

Interesting, but yes.. permission would have been a good place to start....:vw_unimpressed: Remake it from scratch, I don't want you to edit off my model, and besides you would get better tail animations if you did
The wing and the dragon head are blurry and not wrapped well
Dragon's wrap needs working.
Was bored and textured the "dragon" with the felhound and battroll textures
If you want this little boredom stuff, I can give you the result of my boredom edit if you want.
And before I completely lose my mind....:ogre_rage:HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY IT'S NOT A DRAGON?:goblin_wtf: ..had to let that out.. I mean seriously people its a pterosaur, a prehistoric flying reptile, kind of like the stuff Olofmoleman used to make, just with in-game textures.

Hmm they're kinda right about the dragon's head

though i think Minimage's dragon should be submitted as well or something :ogre_hurrhurr:
EDIT: Minimage, if you read this, this has a potential for a Nazgul dragon rider skin, with different rider ofcourse

It's not like I was claiming ownership. I did a retexturing to display a idea that I thought would look good.

I'd still change the texture of the wings to the battroll texture. the white wings just look weird imo.
Also, it's a Pterosaur? It doesn't really look like it. ;O

btw, the reason people call it a dragon is because a Pterosaur in reality wouldn't be that big. It would generally be the size of a human and it's main source would be fish. When you scale it up and place a rider on its back, we will generally consider it a dragon.

A minor tidbit. Pterosaur is not a name of a single dinosaur. It's a name for a group of a dinosaur species. Here's a couple different pterosaurs. http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/118/7/7/Some_pterosaur_heads_by_zakafreakarama.png

And here's a new species of pterosaur that was discovered rather recently. http://www.livescience.com/9240-pterosaur-jawbone-storage-cabinet.html It's most recent living descendant is the Ptychozoon flying geckos. ;P

First things first...
Ever heard of quetzalcoatlus?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quetzalcoatlus
Slightly bigger than you implied but, yes I realize I scaled it up more than that. Also I know that the word pterosaur refers to a whole family of flying reptiles. I guess I got the wrong impression with your first post with your edit of this model. Also I would like to know how it doesn't look like a pterosaur? https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&gs_rn=12&gs_ri=psy-ab&tok=8BhXTG8TjDtNYMey_aIlZQ&pq=quetzalcoatlus&cp=6&gs_id=23&xhr=t&q=pterosaur&biw=1024&bih=677&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.45960087,d.cGE&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=41uFUajMGqOkigKmv4HoCA I based the mount off of the first image on the top left, shortish neck, long skull, big teeth, long wingspan, orange and kind of striped skin, the white webbing on the wings was an attempt to make it more colorful.
