problem with texture

my problem is that i can't remove the texture, i mean, check this:

I delete a piece of the sword, to make that part transparent, but i get it black :S

Are you just coloring it black? Are you using the alpha channels? I can't really see in that picture.

im using the erase tool, with color black, what should i do?

Eraser tool doesn't have colours..

Also, what filetype are you editing in?

Oh and you can change the color of the erase tool. At least in some programs. In my corel the brush tool is basically another brush. Actually it is another brush...
