how can i disable alt tab in windows when i use dos box

i am building a map for blood but i need alt tab in dos box but that doesnt work as long as it cause me to switch to a different program everytime.

Try seeing if you can remap alt-tab to different keys in your usual windows OS. That is an alternative approach.

I do not know off-hand but a quick search on google showed that this is a realitvly common problem so I am sure someone found a soltuion.

I think it might involve using regedit so remember to note everything you changed (for when you no longer want to play DOS box).

Cause Windows 7 was based on Vista and shares a lot of the underlying code in common? In fact Windows 7 is what Vista should have been if Microsoft did not mess up badly.

Unless you are dealing with a specific feature that is unique to the opperating system, everything else is identical between Vitsa and Windows 7 next to maybe the User Interface of getting to the feature.

the solutions provided are still in a different language than my system so i have to translate. a solution in norwegian would have been easier to follow.

i understand english but my system is in norwegian and have different words for most things. that makes it difficult to follow a guide in english. i dont try to derail topics.

norwegian translations tend to be awful, that is why there is so much problems between translations.

I am sorry but this site is only able to help you with English solutions. If you have one of the better versions of Vista (like Ultimate and even Business I think) you can change the language of the entire Operating system. You could temporarily change to English then and then back to whatever orignal language.

Obviously versions like basic and home will not have this multi language support but I know Ultimate definatly does (what I used before I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate).

i tried to use windows 7 to solve the problem but it cant run dos programs at all. if i had been able to find a solution that allows me to run the blood map editor in vista i can disable alt tab for it. vista can disable alt tab in dos programs so the problem would have been solved if i got the program running in vista.

Are you reinstalling Windows again for such thing? DosBox and DOS applications work for 7 it is all based on if DosBox has the right drivers enabled, so you are wrong .. again.

dosbox works in windows 7 but dos programs dont. (unless they are run through the emulator.) vista on the other hand can run dos games but the blood map editor keep crashing every time. if i got a solution that enabled me to run the blood map editor in vista then it would help a lot.(i can disable alt tab for dos programs running in vista but that option isnt in windows 7.)

Are you running DOS in an emlator such as DOSbox? If so you might be able to remap keys.

how would that be possible? the editor could run in windows if ntvdm didnt crash when i tried to run it.

I thought DOS was only 16 bits? Thus all modern 64 bit OS will eithor need to run an older OS via a virtual machine or use an emulator like DOSbox.
