I think it's a perfect game for americans - brave soldiers fighting against russian terrorism... what else do you want?

I don't think it will be really popular in Europe. European players don't like to play as Americans, or liberate countries at all. For example, in World of Conflict multiplayer, vast majority of European players play as Russians (Soviets?), because we hate america.

(america = usa & canada, in this context)

Medal of Honor games are utterly patriotic, but not Call of Duty games. Heck, in CoD 3, you played either a british, a canadian, a french and a polish for the whole game. You didn't even play as an american, since they were all fighting Japan.

Heh, I only played CoD 2, but the Russian campaign > the American campaign by far.
