attack range issue (maximum attack range of 600??)

in my map i have set the attack range of 2 units to 660 (1 unit is based on human sniper, the other one on human siege engine) and the attack range of 1 unit to 1060 (based on human siege engine)

the sniper-based unit now has an ingame attack range of 600 and the 2 siegeengine-based units an attack range of 500
how come??

(this problem should be solvable by using the upgrade, that increases attack range, but still i wanna know what causes that issue)

Attack range will never be higher then the 'Combat - Acquisition Range'.
So most likely your units have Acquisition Range's of 600 and 500. Therefor the attack range automatically decreases to that value.

If you want a high range value, you should increase the Combat - Acquisition Range to the same number.
(This easy fixable in the object editor.;-))

Keep in mind that this means they will automatically attack other units that come inside this range as well.
Since Acquisition Range is basically the 'aggro range'.

ok thx, that was the issue^^

i also tried it with the upgrade and as expected it can increase the range to a value above the editor-set acqusition range
but i guess the upgrade also increases the acquisition range (which is logical^^)

SOLVED

I'm pretty sure you can reduce the acquisition range with triggers without affecting attacking range if you don't want your unit to have long aggro range.

Yeah, it only applies to "aggro range" but does not apply to Player ordering that unit to attack.
