Hey,I was just wondering how to get it so that the first hero that you hire is free, like in melee games. It used to be like that in my map, but I changed some things and now I can't figure out what I did, and how to get it back the way it was.

I played with the editor until I got heroes to cost gold/lumber and it was when I removed the Melee Game - Create starting units (for all players) Trigger.

Maybe you can use the melee trigger to limit heroes to 1 per hero and create a clone of a hero that doesn't cost gold (if you aren't making a melee map). And if that hero dies, give the Altar or whatever you use to ressurect heroes the Clone of your hero, and do some funky triggers to set the experience and attributes to the hero that died. Just an idea. :?
 
Hmm...I did recently change the create starting units for all players to create starting units for player 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. I guess i'll mess around with that a little bit, because your idea..I'm not sure that I understand it too well, it seems like a lot of work =P, and my map does require all the regular melee functions and units to be in tact. If you have ever played an Art of Defense map, my map is very similar to that. Thanks for you reply though!
 
Ah ha!
For anyone else out there that has the same problem as me, I figured it out, and I will post what I did.
Ok on the Melee Game - Create Starting Units for Player, there is an option to include or exclude heros. Now I didn't know what that ment, so i chose exclude. Now I know that that means if that player's first hero is free or not. Oh Well, Thanks!
