This is a simple tutorial that tells you how to get the items, like new heroes from the War3Patch.mpq.
Method 1.
Use MPQ master to easily extract resources from War3Patch.mpq.
Method 2.
Use WinMPQ to open the War3Patch.mpq in your Warcraft III directory. Select all of the files in there, and extract them to a folder. You may have already noticed that the files all begin with "Unknown," we'll change that later.
Open up the hex editor, and start from the first file in the list, and work your way to the last file. SEE LEGEND BELOW to figure out your extensions
LEGEND:
RIFF WAVfmt - If you see WAV RIFF in the hex editor, that means that that file is a .WAV file.
MDLX - If you find a file with MDX and MDL in the hex editor, that means that that file is a .MDX file.
BLP - If you see BLP in your file, that means that the file is a .BLP file.
Nothing in particular - If you just see a bunch of weird characters and no specific file extensions, that means that I have no clue what that file is.
Almost forgot...The Brains, AI - if you look around in some files, you will see a small group of letters that are like AI. AI, AL, ETC.
So, how long does this take?
