Character Modeling, Texturing and Rendering Competition.

This competition would require from the participants the development of high-resolution detail and textures that could hold up high level render, effectively making the character a film-res.

Each participant will be provided with a simple, full humanoid body basemesh with organized topology (If a participant will decide he wants to make a human character, he will be provided with a head basemesh as well) with full UVS laid down (for those who use Sculpting Softwares).

The participants will be allowed to use any tool they can find.
In addition, the participants will be allowed to join forces and to divide the work between them. ONLY if each one of them had a part in creating the final work (they will also have to say who is doing what before starting the work. If a participant will start the process and then will want to join someone, he cannot)

The time to creating such a complicated work is long, so the participants will get Two Months to complete their works and to submit their final render.

Creating a simple environment for the character is recommended, but will not be a bonus or a requirement.

The winners will be decided by selected judges who will give the final result by the following criterions:

Model Mesh- 30%
UV layout- 10%
Textures- 30%
Rendering, Lighting and Shading- 20%
Presentation- 10%

Reward: will be decided by the host.

This would never work because 90% of this community's modelers doesn't know to work in high poly.

Pity. However, I am sure any serious modeler is interested in expanding his knowledge. It is a good start for those who never experienced in making such a model and a good chance for those who already know to show their abilities.

Too bad this only works for people with 3ds or any other such program... which is around 3. Also, for people who have never modeled high-poly, the issue isn't that they don't know how, it's that they don't have the proper tools.

True. Though, those who don't have the proper tools don’t need to be part of this competition. There are plenty here with 3dsmax and Photoshop (and familiar softwares) which is more than enough to model a high-res model. One more solution is that the participants will share between their resources. For example: if one has 3dsmax but doesn't have Photoshop and the other has Photoshop but not modeling software, they can work together.

Alright, I see that people aren't getting much excited from this as I believed. Perhaps if I will present the basics meshes… who knows? (If this isn't enough detailed for you, I always have the other advanced human mesh…)

Update: I removed the file since the contest is off.

Not everyone has a program that can make high poly models and render them.
And barely anyone is skilled enough here to make them work.
