problem when rigging a model in max5

But i'm animating tentacles. Dividing the model would give it a terrible animation. Holes would appear when rotating, or it would look crappy if I did the tentacle parts bigger to avoid holes.
That's why animating the vertices would be a better option. (Skin)
Is there a way to do it? (I did search for tutorials, but they don't say this)

read the 11 and 12 page in Art Tools documentation

Those holes are filled up when exported. Art tools link all the vertexes.

Read the documentation and follow the tutorial.
