It is as gimli said, as far as i know, never had the spell myself. But anyway, most people say it sucks, because you just get invis, 0 aggro on every enemy, but you can't run or cast or do anythings while it is active, so it's almost useless. only good if you have to save yourself. better keep another spell instead of wasting a spell slot for plane shift.
 
It's cooldown is roughly two mob wave in D3. You do not become invulnerable, but become banished and set all mob aggro on you to 0. Magic still harm you as normal (Crippling Curse, Incinerate, Inferno).
A nice side effect, this spell can dispel your doppelganger in The Shade battle provided the doppel has no aggro on anyone else.
Another use of this skill is deter the zombie in Andy fight away from you.
 
Yes, when your doppel apear, hit it once, then use plane shift. Make sure that no one else attack that doppel. Since the doppel only in combat with your Bishop, after you use plane shift to get out of combat, he will get out of combat as well and will get bored and disappear.
