View Full Version : Blockade supply routes RTS with a little twist

Idea of an RTS map. A unique capture the base map full of rivers. You get to see the whole terrain and you have to blockade the several routes at locations where the river gets thin, making sure the supply of the enemy halted. The terrain (rivers and mountain roads) makes you unable to estabilish a base, so you’ll have capture enemy bases and take routes cleverly. Also enemy reinforcements are coming frequently (entering the map), so you really have to make sure you don’t leave yourself open to attack and time when do you leave your base.
Could be it a fun map or would it be annoying?? (because of the limited space for your ground units and enemy reinf. would attack from air)

It certainly seems to have potential for ragequitting. Maybe you could set the bases to have automatic defenses, or allow the player a fast method of returning to defend?

This was originally for a Burning Legion campaign and the player would have Mass Teleport.

I think that adding a timer for reinforcements would help, so you can see exactly how much time you have left before your base could get attacked.
Also you could add some kind of portals stones in the map. This portal stone upon activation (just getting to one of those with our hero) will cast Mass Teleport and return all the nearby units to the hero base. To make the game more balanced I think that this stones can be used by any player but will have a shared coldown. So if one player use a teleport then everyone will have to wait for the coldown to use it.
