Spell Problem

hello everyone im trying to make a spell where a wave of ice moves towards the enemy and damaging everything it hits. i use the frost nova model and i want 1 of the frost nova models to be created for x range from casting unit to target unit of ability being cast and disappearing as soon as it hits it target can anyone tell me how to create this? oh and i know it may seem confusing if it does tell me, i will try to explain it better then
