Well. One of my friends is in a clan that was completely destroyed by bots. There were over 50 bots entering the channel, all the same name spamming and they disabled the warcraft III anti-spam thing. Each bot was doing 100 posts a second untill warcraft kicked them all. I wish I could have taken a screen shot but they did it to quickly. I was wondering if there was a way to prevent this from happending to you, because people were disconnected for not even spamming because of the huge spam from the bots.

If they whisper you, use the ignore command "/o igw"

If you want to prevent them to enter your Clan channel, use this: "/clan private"
(Chieftain or shamans is able to activate this, undo with "/clan public")

You're are familiar with the avaible commands ?

In addition, like Mecheon wrote before,
Warcraft can't transmit viruses, unless you download a map and it somehow puts a virus on your computer

Impossible like you presented it.

Uhm. I'm going out on a limb here, but possibly HE had viruses allready, OR.... the internet, which is used for battle.net last time I checked, was used to transmit viruses to your computer.
But, I'm not a genius at these things.

The people that run these bots can find and trace you I.P. and from there they can grab your email and email virus you. Don't under-estimate these hackers

There is no direct connection between you and other users in a Battle.Net channel.

So please, those of you insisting that you can get viruses simply by logging on to BNet, stop. You make yourselves look ignorant and gullible.

WC3 can give viruses... I kept getting spy ware every time I logged on for a few days, but then I stopped getting it

That happened because you're a porn obsessed 12-year-old and you're trolling through countless sites downloading it.

LMFAO.

This is probably the funniest thing I have ever heard you say, Tonks :D

Anyway, they're all right. It is extremely unlikely that you can get a virus from WC3 and spyware and such just isn't happening. Bots are a nuisance, but not a threat.

No, the only way to get someone's IP in warcraft is to host a game. Not only that, but there isn't a way to get an email from someone's IP unless you contact the ISP, ask them to lookup all email address accessed from that IP. Which is not even feasible, except for Maybe the government.

I meant that using battle.net opens the internet (I think), thus causing viruses that were waiting on his connection/computer to gain acess.

But, I was serious when I say I don't know about these things, I'm just guessing.
