Welcome to the epic celebration of 30 years of Warcraft! Join us on a heartfelt journey through three decades of adventure, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments in Azeroth and beyond. In this special 45-minute video, we're bringing together the creative minds behind World of Warcraft, Warcraft RTS, Hearthstone, and Warcraft Rumble. Hear firsthand from our development teams as they reflect on the milestones of the past:
  • 30 Years of Warcraft RTS: Hear from the team working on the games that started it all as they look to bring some exciting new updates to Warcraft III Reforged and more.
  • 20 Years of World of Warcraft: Relive the evolution of the world's most beloved MMORPG and discover what's next on the horizon for both WoW Classic and Modern…and a special announcement at the end.
  • 10 Years of Hearthstone: Celebrate a decade of strategic card-slinging fun and get a sneak peek at the game-changing updates coming your way.
  • 1 Year of Warcraft Rumble: Join us for our 1st Anniversary and share our exciting additions on the horizon.
This is more than a look back — it's a warm thank you to our incredible community and a visionary glimpse into the future of the Warcraft universe. Whether you're a lifelong fan or rekindling your passion, there's never been a better time to dive back into the world you love. Let's embark on the next chapter together. The adventure continues!

I'm really let down that they want it to be exciting.

Doing the right thing and giving Reforged software technology the attention that it needs will always be a thankless job. If someone actually managed to do it properly, they would not be very thanked, and in the end they may be fired after time spent doing their job as perfectly and properly as possible.

Because of this, trying to make the changes exciting, from my perspective, feels like a mistake. Sometimes, it's not exciting to do the right thing.

I'm really curious about the wc2 remaster thing. I thought if they ever did something about wc2 it would be like a DLC campaign for Reforged.

"Welcome to Warcraft II: Reforged & Remastered!

Now with stunning HD graphics—we haven’t actually seen them yet, but we outsourced that part, so fingers crossed! If anything breaks, don’t worry—we’ll fix it… sometime in the next month. Wait, did we say month? We meant five years. Yes, expect a smooth soft relaunch across the next five years!

Campaigns? Not on launch, sorry! We'll be rolling them out in installments as free DLC (if you’re patient) or paid DLC (if you’re not). And yes, multiplayer will be there from day one, complete with exciting desyncs and crashes that’ll keep you guessing! The ranking system? Stay tuned, that’s coming next year.

As for the map editor… well, we may have accidentally broken it. But rest assured, we’re definitely planning to fix it—eventually. Just as soon as we figure out why the entire team responsible for the Warcraft II editor seems to have… well, left Blizzard.

Enjoy the nostalgia! And remember: Warcraft II is here to stay… sort of."

I truly hope I'm wrong and that the company listens to the call of the heart, not just the call of easy profit. I hope it all pays off, and that the fans will be happy in the end.

Congratulations to everyone on the 30th anniversary of the Warcraft universe, the 20th anniversary of WoW, the 10th anniversary of Hearthstone, and the 1st anniversary of Warcraft Rumble!

Well, I think that I for one have gained a valuable insight from this event before it even took place!

It's as if Microsoft wants to pay social media, and the system through which all our minds are for sale, to make me excited about their remasters of these titles.
And instead, the part of my brain that is supposed to be manipulated... is instead shutting down and operating in reverse. I have to resist the urge to use all of my accounts and logins to post "I hate Microsoft" everywhere, or something.
I don't have the best amount of self-introspection, but I think it might be related to Reforged. For me, I have at times been really passionate about my Warcraft III modding projects and about creating something really cool and fun.
And yet, that same passion for me is eye-opening. It made Reforged hurt when the point of Reforged was that I was supposed to just love it and open my wallet. And the reason it hurt, maybe most of all, was to realize that I wasn't playing Warcraft 3 because it was the best game on Earth, nor because I was particularly good at playing it. The reason that I enjoyed Warcraft III was that when I play a video game and I choose to do something escapist like that anyway, in my escape I want to have the illusion of control. I want to pretend that I AM THE ONE who tells the computer what to do.
This is, of course, a very World-Editor-centric way to enjoy the game.
But, Reforged, above everything else, asserted that Activision are the ones who are in control. By selling themselves to Microsoft, Microsoft has inherited that position. They have inherited the circumstance of being the people who remove my enjoyment just by announcing their existence.

So, as I start to figure that out, if anybody has ever used Retera Model Studio on Reforged and thought, huh, you know, this is a good program, this really works. And then if they see me clearly lose my mind on some forum and post something that is perhaps against Reforged, against whatever Microsoft is about to do with Warcraft RTS, and ultimately even against the 2003 Frozen Throne game itself, when I do that, maybe you will think that doesn't fit the character of someone who dedicated so much time to building a 3D graphics program that is so solid and actually works. And if that's confusing and turns you away from Warcraft Reforged in some way, I apologize, and I hope that doesn't do that for you and you make your own choices.

But, I might go change my Hive signature to "I hate Microsoft because I can" sometime soon, we'll see.

These feelings I'm describing... is this what it truly means to be REFORGED?

Well, I'd like to make a judgement on how this new patch looks, the only problem is they haven't actually revealed anything yet. They spent more time talking about their painted figurines than Warcraft 3.

We'll see how it looks when the update goes live, but the lack of fanfare is making things look grim.

But guys that check the game only have classic models with ai upscale... So is this Classic HD fake advertising or not in yet?
Blizzard mastered the ancient art of bullshot advertising back in 1998, when they released StarCraft with beta screenshots on the back of the box.

WarCraft 3 bullshots also looked prettier than the real thing:

Just look at that shader water we never got in classic WC3... Even Morrowind's water would've looked dull against this beauty in 2002.

In terms of data miining, in all of the hd2 folders in the CASC there seems to be the base like _addons/h2 plugin/heroes.w3mod but then there is also _addons/h2 plugin/heroes.w3mod/_hd.w3mod and I didn't understand the difference yet.

So for people who feel let down that the advertisement images look like new art is added to the game, and the game itself looks like classic graphics shoddily hacked into Reforged render engine (i.e. with shadows and different lighting) there might be some hope that "Classic HD" looking identical to "classic" original graphics is some mistake.

Or, it might be intentional, and that's just how it is.

Edit:

For what it's worth, unlike the "Classic HD" screenshots that look like new art, the actual promotional video is not new art:
