Have finished a prototype floating text help system. I feel it offers a simple help interface that allows the player to keep track of the battlefield at the same time.

I have also begun adding mass order controls to give better use of the sheer volume of units players can acquire.

My suggestion is to not rely too much on floating text as it gets cumbersome on a screen and can annoy people. Also be sure to make a way for the player to disable floating text so that they need not worry about the stuff you keep. Put most of the information in the quests section for simplicity.

simplicity perhaps, but it means a lack of awareness in a game where power changes rapidly.

The map if of good size and the help text is brief. I don't think i need to worry about crowding the screen. as for turning it off. that will probably be in the control of the hosting player.

Bad idea, here is why:

The host allows in newbies to play, disables text, newbies have no idea of what happens, host wins, newbies never play again from frustration.

Thus the best bet is to make it individualized.

Despite the upgrade system the player with the most viruses was most often the winner. To counter this i have put a food limit in and confugured the triggers to only duplicate viruses if the killing player has enough food remaining. The food limit reaches a maximum of 200 therfore limiting the amount of viruses a player can have to that number.

The creep spawn trigger is set to turn off upon a collective virus count of 300. This will ensure that certain players have a majority virus count like the game intended without giving the player an unfair majority.

what I mean is that when you kill one of the enemies unit, then you have a trigger that create (unit-type of (dying unit)) for (owner of (killing unit)) at position of (dying unit)

BTW the topicname: This is where we put updates. There are no updates. Why don't you upload VW to the download section? as beta or something
