Hi, i am trying to code a vertical gate(to use as a building), as one cannot be done normally, i tried creating the model, well, just editing. I downloaded war3 model editor, i could succesfful rotate it 90 degrees in Z axis. But the problem is............. the door animation is really crap, it opens the same way before(the doors in X axis), i really dont know if i can edit it this way.

So, i thought it couldnt be made with war 3 model editor. I installed gmax, applied scripts, for import export. Export is really a problem. I can export 1 model with its animations, but the wall are like 5 or 6 models, so export cannot be done that way, and the worst.. the skin was lost :(
I couldnt export it correctly(with DEX exporter script), it only exports 3 objects but the gate not, i am really a noob in modeling here.

If you need it, i upload the mdx file.

Sorry for my english, :p its not very good.
Thx!!

you can turn a building manually by disabling "stats - is a building" in the object editor, then placing all your gates at the correct angle, and then enabling "stats - is a building" again in the object editor...
That way you won't need additional models other than the wc3 one.

If the gate is not preplaced and is actually buildable, you could - when the gate is finished constructing - remove it and create a new gate at that position... When creating a unit, you can set an angle, even to buildings.

Lots of thanks PurplePoot :) i owe you 1.

Eleandor, i know about unit "placeable". but, mi idea, well lots off people do this, is a Gate buildable by a worker, i simply CANT do other things, i have tried'em all, but this one is the only simple solution.

Bye thanks!

All sorts of weird stuff tends to happen otherwise. (Like, for example, the pathing getting stuck in the old direction at first)

I haven't played with it enough to find a way around stuff like that without huge amounts of noticeable junk ingame, but meh.

This way works.

And it's destructables you can use the same model for without problems.

you can't build a destructible. you must build a building and then use a trigger to replace it with the gate...
Yes... i have alredy done that, a BUILDABLE GATE(a farm with the model of the gate) and then use the skill fo change it(trigger? forget it!! only to play animation correctly). Gate replaced by other with a different pathing map(with druid of the talon skill), and then i play the animation.

The difference with making a unit buildable, is... i have to use blocking paths, and really dont want to. This is an easier way(if you have the model :p) and it will never get buged. And when someone needs to build it with the peon, how do you make a UNIT not a building, without pathing map to place it correctly? needs scripting. This way.. build gate, veritcal gate, ready, problem solved, you open, animation of death alternate(door open) is played.

Thanks to all :)
