Look, if the walls were the only thing that cost food, maybe yes, it would've been a bit exaggerated.
But take in consideration the following:
Walls - 2 food
Worker - 1 food
Rifleman/other units - 2 food (or even more)
Towers - 3 food (or maybe more)
Almost everything needs food, so when you begin to build 100 walls, you won't be able to build anything else.
In all of my games, i've never made more than 30 walls. (just to "entrench" 2 cheese mines) Then i made myself some nice "walls of towers" and an army.
I don't want to offend you, but you're bringing up some "unbalance issues" that are not actually there; you just see them like that because you don't know how to play well with the cat, probably.
When i play cat, i always use all sorts of tactics and plans to out-smart the mice and plant traps or use certain styles of attack. I don't just try to hit their walls until they break. And honestly, i usually don't use those items/units that break walls that often, because i have a lot more ways of killing a mouse with other units/items. So whether the mouse has 10 or 100 walls, it doesn't matter, i can still get to the actual goal: THE MOUSE.
