These are all representational buttons made from pictorial symbols. They are not my work but painstakingly scanned from a handbook of pictorial symbols made in the mid 1970's by Rudolf Modley, all of which are royalty free to my knowledge. These can be used in 2 ways, you can color them in or use them as is for generic mapping purposes. If you have any comments or questions, you can contact me at the following email address-

I also want to apologize because I didn't feel that the metal outline to my buttons worked with the icons, if this is a problem I can always add the outline if it's that big of a deal (I already have a black outline though)

I honestly don't see what use those 181 icons have in Warcraft

First of all, they are not good at all, secondly, they are not colored, thirdly they have nothing to do with Warcraft, fourthy they don't have the warcraft 3 border and fifhly the disabled version is not in the classical warcraft style, because it has gray background (yeah I know, if it would be black nothing would show). Conclusion, somebody please delete these craps!

Well, despite what anyone else says, I like them. Even though they might not have an apparent use, I can think of a few places where they might come in handy. Congrats for bothering to do all that, and at least they DO have a DISBTN.

I'm glad they aren't in the usual warcraft 3 style! why do we have to make these highly stylized masterpieces for something that just has to represent what the unit or button means? I know a lot of people who need these types of buttons for all sorts of applications in warcraft 3 custom games, especially sims.

Of course, I did ask anyone to colorize and stylize whatever they want on my icons to make it fit with their map, I'm sorry if you are so offended by simplicity.

wow, really? even though warcraft 3 has so much more to offer than what it is originally made for? I don't know, I'm not here to change minds, but I am here to challege boundaries, that should be every artists goal instead of making something "pretty".

Just because I decided not to respond, doesn't mean your right mech. But I do think it's funny that recently after you deleted my icons, someone created an icon set with simple pictoral icons much like mine, just with the stylized wc3 stone look.

It's not my fault you don't know basic art theory guys, I'm sure that Marcel Duchamp is rolling in his grave right now.

Question: those stone-styled icons you refered to that have also been posted - aren't they perhaps the Diablo 2 icons?

He's trying to say that it is unoriginal BECAUSE YOU DID NOT MAKE IT, YOU IMBECILE! Scanning in work done by someone else does not constitute art - not where I come from, and not most other places I know of either.

Alsom, what exactly do you know of art? Quoting other artists and uploading work done by other people does not translate into artistic expression - that is just plain plagiarism, and NOT art.

listen daelin, I am not a liar, I am friends with Psychicmaster, but I have no idea what you are talking about. I'm also done with explaining basic art theory. I used an old form (something that isn't even in use anymore and that is so representational and symbolic that they didn't even place copyrights on the images) into a new media for the benifit of the community, if you don't appriciate it, then I appriciate your ignorance.

No. Your new stupid icons on the icon section is making me dizzy. First off, you should have been banned already. Either because abusing too much of Daelin's patience, and also because of posting 6 useless icons (without counting with the 181 -_-) that you just submited. I just wonder when the fack will a icon mod come to delete it. Icons are a resource that are submited very often. We need active icon moderators.

News flash: We don't give a rats ass about rules of art. What WE care about are things that fit into Warcraft and abide by OUR rules. This isn't an art gallery, its a site with resources that are ment to resemble already existing ones in a game as possible

So yeah, stop angsting and read the rules. We're trying to make a site were one can try to submit quality stuff

And I was proved right in saying that they were against the rules

And yes, the stylised WC3 look makes the difference. Now don't go and submit half-assed work, otherwise we'll delete it
