The Morning After / Rendered scene

The past couple of weeks we've been working on making this god damn annoying scene, finally that has come to end!

Here's the concept and the final piece, tell me what you think and what might could be improved.

The quality of the textures vary, they were all rushed on the very last day.

I'm using both a regular light source (omni) and another light-source which I've currently forgot the name of ofcourse, I'll get back to you on that one. It works as the "sun" where as the other one is a general light-source. It was a last minute thing, which is why it could have been a lot darker, but as the render took almost 1:30 hour then there was no time for re-doing it sadly. All in all though, the few texture problems and lighting being too light, then I think it turned out pretty well.

Thanks for your assestment, donut3.5.

True, ambient and a light for "sun" status, casting light to create the shadows needed, shadow quality set to 20. I might have done something incorrectly in the process, as this tbh was my first proper scene, though it isn't even half as impressing as your closet scene, I am still kind of proud of it and think it turned out well and I learned a lot in the process, both about how to do/not do various things and how to manage my time better, something which I really failed at with this project, as I said earlier, ALL texturing was done in a last-minute rush, explaining the very simple background buildings especially.

Do you perhaps have any pointers, TDR? Without completely shredding my confidence in the process :p

Go to rendering advanced lighting and see if Radiosity is on. That could be it.
Or maybe your using photometric lights.
Or maybe you have your lights set to raytrace.
Or maybe you have your materials set to raytrace.
Or maybe your computer really sucks.

You should post the max scene here so someone can check it out.

As for the scene it feels really empty. I would add more detail to everything except for the cart thing. If the road had some brick tiles it'd be nice.

Thanks for the critics, I know the textures has some problems here and there, as I explained earlier they were very rushed, I see where my problems are and they will be resolved in my next project, it was only problems due to lack of time.

About the left part with the burned-stone area infront of the house, it is not shadows, its the texture, it looks like that. I had a look at some pictures of buildings/streets in Mexico and Brazil and there were things that looked like that, like shitty/burned stone-stuff.

And about the problems on the model on the same area, it is not vertex mistakes, it's some other problems, hard to explain, but the model actually needed to be redone but I had no time, so I tried to cover the mistake up as much as I could.

About the viewing-angle edge thing, what looks bad? I see no problem there and don't get what you mean is wrong.

A total night scene would have been cooler, but we had to make it morning.

Crates and barrels would have been cool extras, same for more detail on the street, but time presure is a bitch, and now that I am done with the project I really don't want to work on it again :p

what i meant with the edge is that your viewing angle is messed up!
i reedited the picture and marked some of the lines of the buildings...
They dont even nearly cross eachother in one point...
And i added a vertical line at the edge i meant, you see that it looks like the house would fall to the left side any moment?
