Well, this is a loooong ways off from being completed, but I've been asked to make a demo, so i've got it about done. Probably still a bit buggy, but oh well, I'll fix any that are brought to my attention and update it. Eventually.

Basically, this is a 3 player RPG map where you choose from 6 different elemental hero types. The story follows the three of you through a series of quests that will (eventually) branch out and give different endings to the game (chronotrigger anyone?).

I'm running short on time, but I will add more information (plot, screenshots, etc)about it here later on today probably. So... um... I'll update this in a few hours...

This is a solo project, so any input would be very welcome :)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following is an excerpt from the introduction of the game

(An old man is chopping down a tree and is singing as he works)

Granpa: ♫ Ohhhhhh! There was a birdie from the west, who had no feathers on her chest, and haaay! That birdie just maaaay, have a lot to saaaay, to the world! ♫

(Three children appear out of the nearby woods and run up to the old man)

Grandchild: "Granpa, Granpa!"
Granpa: "Well, well, what have we here? Three knights returning from their epic quest to save the world, eh? Did you find any uber loots?" *chuckles*
Grandchild: "Granpa, we saw a monster out in the woods! It had a great big hairy tail and giant teeth! It made a scary noise and then shot up into the trees and vanished when it saw us!"
Granpa: "Ah, yes you should all be very careful. You never know what sort of creatures you might run into out there in the woods." *makes a mental note to set up the squirrel traps*
Grandchild:" We're bored Granpa, will you tell us a story about REAL heroes and the old days when magic still existed?"
Grandchild: "Yeah!! Please, oh pleeasse??" =(
Granpa: "Bah, well, I suppose I could take a break from chopping trees for a short while. Let's see... AH! I think I know just the one. The Legend of Dark Land!"

(Insert pause here for dramatic effect)
Granpa: "There was an age when the world was young, that the 4 Primal Elements reigned supreme. Great hurricanes brought onslaughts of rain as earthquakes raised giant mountains which spewed molten fire into the skies. It was an era of chaos and balance.

But a time came, when beings of flesh took to the lands and harnessed the powers of wood and metal. The power had shifted, and the Primal Elements yielded the land to these new beings, as was foretold by the Gods.

These elementals, called Furies by the fleshlings, were created by the Gods to keep a great Darkness from ever escaping from the depths of the world. They were the jailors of the Great Evil, which had destroyed countless worlds, and the Earth was its prison.

Knowing that they could never leave such an enormous responsibility upon these frail new creatures, they decided that they would join their souls with those children who were destined to play a part in the world shattering events that were to come.

This story follows three young adventurers, not unlike yourselves, on a great quest that changed the very nature of our planet. You see, they were chosen by the Great Furies… hmm, I’m not sure I can recall which ones…"

(The dialog ends here and the game begins, allowing you to choose your element)

That should give a general idea of the plot of the story, hopefully. As far as game mechanics go, I'm still not the best at engineering those sorts of things, but I've put in several neat things:
-transport systems to get your characters from point A to B much faster... and safer.
-voting for branching quests and transports.
-the branching quests themselves. (there is only one in the demo at the moment, unfortunately)
-a "special mode" code that you earn for beating the game in regular mode.

Also, these screenshots are little bit outdated, since the terrain wasn't 100% complete at the time I took them.

EDIT: There is one significant bug that I have not yet fixed in this version (that i know of). To prevent it from occuring, make sure that no player slots are skipped when you are preparing to start the game. For example, if you are playing it singleplayer, do not start the game playing it as "player 2." Make sure the slots are filled from top to bottom, without gaps.
