Story
Background Story
Twelve peaceful years have passed since The Great War ended. The war that lasted centuries but no man could recall the reason of. The age of despair, bloodshed, loss and grief is now past. The new age brought the opportunity for human kingdoms to rise, as humanity has broken free from the grip of the dragons.

This story focuses on Kingdom of Balgaron and three famous Dragon Slayers: Phodom, Fradz and Galeoth. Each of them starts their journey in different places, but they will eventually meet eachother and join forces along the path. Together, the three are forced to go a conflict beyond their imaginations.

Lead them into an epic world, guided by a strong storyline that covers hate, love, war and peace.

The honored Dragon Slayer Phodom gave up his life as a warrior and began a new life with his wife and his children, far away from the capital of Balgaron in the small town called Dalli. All his plans were going smooth and easy until someone steps into his life and changes everything... Fradz is a young energetic Dragon Slayer known for his short temper and bad manners. This silly thief is a very powerful warrior and it is said that he even killed powerful dragons single-handedly. After the war, Fradz went on many journeys, but one day a mysterious voice told him to travel to the famous Dragon Inn to meet someone who was once very close to him. Fradz accepts this new journey, as he knows that he cannot decline it... Galeoth, the son of a legendary Dragon Slayer lived up to his father's name and became one of the leaders of Balgaron. After the war, Galeoth still believed that the war was not yet over. His obsession to find dragons led him towards the Icy Mountains where he is about to uncover a horrible secret that will change the fate of mankind...

AI system for companions added. Credits goes to Chaosy who made the system by my request.
All abilities remade and new abilities: Battle Banner, Fiery Ball, Fire Power, Ultimate Sacrifice, Counter Attack, Energy Shield, High Strike, Crystal Plane, Galeoth's Order, Illusion Army, Magic Convert and Magical Fog.
'Critical Chance' attribute added! It starts from 5% and it can be increased various ways.
Now also Strenght increases Critical Damage just like Agility.
Chapter 5 Pumpking Quest's second cinematic updated.
Chapter 7 Epic Boss removed the terrain deforming to decrease lag.
Fixed a lot of bugs you guys mentioned.

Chapter 9 is now available for playing.
Attack and Armor types remade; values are changed and Attack & Armor types are removed. I've made the campaign simpler, easier to learn and more effective this way.
Rebalanced the armor values of all enemy units in all chapters.
Improved chapter 3's ending dialogues (outdated).
Vacuum's area of effect reduced. You cannot grab items from far away anymore.
Background stories and so-called "Books" are completely added to all chapters in this version.
Every single Spell Book spell has been added to the campaign!
Many new items and item changes. For example, superior items, which costs a huge amount of gold, are added to middle chapters; however, they're worth it!
Improved the multiboard a lot. Now it is more informative and better organized.
Combat kings once again rebalanced and changed. The major thing is that now they all cost 2 Honor Points.
Espers improved and made even stronger. Please come and tell me what you think about the Espers now. I've seen that players don't use them and I really want to make them useful.
Many changes to the starting packs! Now they should be balanced, every single one of them!
Stealing improved; now it shows the percentages.
Easter Eggs added; currently just 2 but there will be a total of 12 Easter Eggs. Check them all out!
Mystic Storm and Frost Shard recoded.
From this version onwards, a number of items can only be bought once. Choose wisely and try not to lose those items. You cannot buy them again!
Small changes to abilities, but not much. I plan to once again balance them in the coming minor versions. For example, I was thinking to completely remove Bleed, Brittle and Stagger. What do you think?

Now every fourth ranked synthesis Item will require a Zozi to reduce player from getting too many powerful items at early chapters.
Now each STR gives 20 health instead of 25.
Now each INT gives 10 mana instead of 15.
Chapter 4 Wisps are now easier to catch
Black merchant can only be seen between 24:00 to 6:00 o'clock.

Beta 1.5c to Beta 1.6


Chapter 7 is now opened.
Boss points are now removed from the game. You can still change your Boss points to Honor points by writing this code: "-change".
Remade all item, ability, spell, esper and all other descriptions: they are now shorter and easier to read.
There is only fire, ice, and lightning spells now.
Improved multiboard by a lot, added some new stats to it also.
Added new combat kings and new spells. Combat Kings now only go up to level 5.
Added some more tactical meaning to the battle: some abilities can do or use buffs called Brittle, Stagger, and Bleed. For example some other abilities can use these buffs to deal increased damage.
Now Special abilities will increase by every level instead of every fifth level.
All professionals are now universal.
The Critical Damage bonus starts from 100% instead of 0%. The chance to do a Critical Hit is still 10%.
Once again, more items.
New Spell System: Instead of spell books you can easily use spells from left corner just like potions.
The file size is now bigger because I imported some resources to the campaign. The expected file size in the end will be about 120mb to 140mb. I hope the file size won't be a problem.
New balanced attack and armor types: Sharp, Blunt, Magic, Light, Medium, Heavy, Sturdy and Elemental.
Now some enemies are categorized as Summoned, Undead, Drgon and Monster. Some items and abilities can do extra effects to them.
Now enemies won't do their abilities while stunned.
The campaign is now optimized and protected. All thanks to Shadow Daemon for creating the awesome "campaign optimizator" program".

Most of the item descriptions are updated.

Six new Galeoth abilities: Chill of the Frost Master, Frozen Storm, Icy Barrage, Inner Light, Mesmerizing Ice Crystal and Piercing Shard.
Combat Kings are remade. All high tier combat kings aren't remade yet.
After every cinematic units you had selected before will be selected for you automatically.
Now quests will give experience like before.

Fixed Zwill Blade's synthesis, now it should be able to create.
Increased Phodom's base movement speed from 250 to 275.
Spell book spells are cooldown are now changed. Here are the cooldowns from first to fourth 90/180/300/once per chapter.

Fixed a bug and now Black Market sells the correct item: Third Hand. Now you finally can actually get the Thief Set at chapter 2.
Fixed Anthenex Esper's attack type.

    Did a sort of speedrun (as if that's even possible) to see if it works on 1.30.4. There were little to no issues found, no game breaking problems, well except for some lag spikes.
    1. sometimes loading a saved file crashes the game and you have to restart the .exe.
    2. the multiboard cannot all be seen as part of its left side is beyond the screen
    3. on faster computers maps seem to be loading faster
    4. Kar'Gath sure is strange when instead of lava you get huge green blocks
    5. the double green triangle lightning FX remains after defeating Yurgimar's minion
    6. Uummut remains in Galeoth's prison room and says the same thing that I'm not allowed to pass; he's not in the way anymore but feels like he shouldn't be there anymore after the scene where Galeoth's been released as Uummut didn't say or do anything but stand there near to that mysterious ninja
    7. this chapter stars lagging a bit; I've completed all quests except those related to the Forgotten Ones and lava creatures. I assume it might be from spell leaks, maybe from Yurgimar's minion or this as an addition
    8. couldn't do the lava related optional quest; did some reading and it seems some NPC has to appear but not when Galeoth is there; haven't seen the NPC even with only the two heroes before getting to the fortress. The quest should be failed if it's not supposed to be completed with Galeoth; you should get a warning like you do in the first chapter
    9. maybe all heroes should be teleported at once (or an option for that to be) since one by one takes time and I don't think most people actually split their heroes
    10. Fradz's lightning balls are seen (even if he's supposed to be invisible) during the scene where Galeoth talks to the commander about the statue; same when meeting Travis; actually I think the heroes are all present but only some are visible due to the plot
    11. are you supposed to get with your heroes on the race tracks?
    12. Mine Workers are actually flying or at least don't have their feet on the ground
    13. the elevator near the statue of the dead dragon slayer is bugged in that sometimes you can get off or on it without it being at the same level with any of the cliffs
    14. in the park where the statue of Elisha is, there are two pairs of kids saying the same thing when clicked, two in the north and two in the south behind the trees
    15. people get through buildings
    16. why does Secret Note 4/6 have a 6 charge and the others don't?
    17. the people you call for the secret meeting should have a buff over their head; on second thought the range from where they see you is big
    18. you shouldn't be able to buy the same book more times and waste the gold
    19. demons are called monsters in their book
    20. there's an issue with Restoration Potions; it says I have 0 for all heroes but when taking one it says I have a nax if 30. Also, the ones for Fradz are missing
    21. ability cooldowns should be reset when reentering an arena
    22. the secret notes Easter egg works only once; is that you?
    23. Pool of Flame has the E hotkey but it's the first spell while Attack Boost has Q and is the second
    24. after meeting Varmath, Fradz's balls lost their Locust ability and became selectable
    25. tried swapping flowers from Galeoth's first box and only the first item from the invetory got in the box while the first slot flower didn't get into Galeoth's inventory. Also, the other flowers remained in th box while the other items in Galeoth's inventory
    26. you can pass through the huge house right southwest of the magic garden
    27. so I used all three heroes on the yellow-green circles puzzle and more circles appeared over each other; reset didn't remove the extra ones
    28. Terdoom map leaks after a while; you should double check for leaks
    29. it looks like Adamantine something armour remains in the auction house announcer's inventory in slot #2
    30. I got stuck in the auction game; exiting automatically gets me back in; spamming ESC and Yes creates more items in the auction master's inventory; the error is either caused by coming with all heroes or by getting too close to the auction master as when trying to get out of the region the game triggers again; actually it might be because of moving the boxes there
    31. the second and third part of Hologro have the same icon, a piece on the lower left part of the three pieces
    32. you can pass through some walls of the master key locked room where the secret notes thief was (which can be reached through a circle of power); there's nothing in there maybe because I chose for the thieves to be arrested; there's another room with barrels and explosives north of it which ca be seen but not reached (maybe through another circle?)
    33. maybe you should make periodical events for item bringing so you won't have to exit the region and come back again every time you place the items in your inventory when you're in such a region
    34. shops on big maps, especially combat skill teachers should be visible on the minimap after you discover them
    35. not sure if intended but some aura items give bonus to heroes from the boxes
    36. did some thread reading and I guess that you can't get to Siluze if you kill the elite boss (esper; also killed statue) before seeing Siluze's mission cinematic scene? Alfred doesn't appear after seeing the scene and there's no fountain scene either; Phew! Alfred appeared after seeing the castle cinematic scenes (two of the main plot ones)
    37. during the fight with Siluze, there's an annoying and constant rattling sound
    38. the statue was already too much with 3k damage+friends but Siluze's infinite clones+minions+bomb that you have to run from whie the clones and minions shoot at you... it's like you're supposed to have 5k damage to be able to stop the clones or him before others and the bomb appear; the battle was OK until Siluze got under 40% life
    39. small death coil skulls remained after the battle, called Big Death Bolt and a lot of more lagging has been added to the game; from 1.2gb memory to 1.5
    40. after battling Siluze, one of Fradz orbs disappeared but the remaining were no longer selectable anymore
    41. during the fight with Groxtxts, fire remained stuck somewhere in the middle and he remained permananetly invisible; moving something in the fire caused it do deal damage and disappear; then the dragon reappeared
    42. you're supposed to steal the horns not get them after killing the Otzis?
    43. 1 with 2 horns didn't want to stack and I had to manually put the 1 on the 2 to make it 3. Afterwards I've put an item where the 1 horn was and the item vanished
    44. so, they're searching alone as they meet Jakob separately? Also, where are the other hunters? Fradz's balls are still visible during cinematic mode; they should not have shadows since they are light
    45. a bandit gang in one of the worst places on Olivert where dragons recently reappeared and supposedly trolls wander? Also, were they starving or something? Didn't they see the three were heavily armoured and magical?
    46. reached the troll village talked to the chief shaman and then potions, books and whatever except heroes didn't work when cliking on them or pressing their repective keys; Fradz's balls can be selected again
    47. the infernals are too strong; they explode and instantly kill you; how're you supposed to kill them without getting hurt or fast enough with Galeoth that they don't multiply?
    48. why move heroes after a cinematic scene ten million kilometers away from the scene triggering point!?
    49. some transmissions run too fast when meeting the death knights and in the scenes before ending the chapter
    50. the Behemoth's shockwaves don't deal damage
    51. you don't get 1 honour point as it says after finishing the crystal golem quest
    52. heroes can pass through the giant ice blocks south of the three obelisks
    53. during Phodom's underground escape, the camera shakes constantly but if you load the game it doesn't anymore; the problem with this part of the game is that it's trial and error; there's no puzzle or thinking invovled
    54. by the way, bosses should have better FX on them or something so that you'd know when you have to prepare to dodge because they have spells that instantly kill you and it's hard to realize when they start casting them just by looking at their animations when you're having multiple heroes, units and spells on them at once
    55. Axobada's quest is quite impossible even on easier difficulties. Too many monsters clutter you from getting them in the zones where they can be killed; you need huge damage
    56. not sure if you're supposed to be able to summon Nyrzx when playing only with Fradz; maybe that would have helped during the above mentioned fight?
    57. still 0 Restoration Potions and Fradz's missing; when I clicked Galeoth's, Fradz's appeared but still all were 0 even though usable
    58. not sure how're you supposed to resist Hakhar's green spell since you can't dodge it and its range is everywhere
    59. escorting the hunter and the popag is without danger if you clear the way beforehand
    60. just feels a waste and unnecessary to make "secrets" like those when returning in the same place something else happens; this way it's just chance that you might stumble upon things like the demoness which appeared after the Dark Golem (after completing the escort quest)
    61. some of the demoness clones remain stuck on the cliffs
    62. so, why did the death knights attack the slayers with just one at a time? Phodom was Zylcious' target and he only appeared for Fradz after Hakhar lost; plus how is it keeping Galeoth busy when you can just skip this battle not coming back to this area?
    63. the Magical Fog can be selected after cinematic scene (the one after beating the demoness)
    64. Mystery Key says it can be used to steal 10k mana but it cannot (no click to use function)
    65. some undead creatures move aimlessly near the northwestern river
    66. five of Xirenze's little fireballs (that come out of the bigger one the dragon shoots) remained on the ground
    67. during the fight with Yurgimar, I've released Nyrxz and I heard: "A town is under siege!"
    68. I guess it's intended to be thrown out of the esper once Yurgimar's esper appears?
    69. Luyju's DPS spell when he's invulnerable; how to dodge?
    70. afterwards, Yurgimar is just nonsense. I take it you have to replay the game several times until you get super strong which means bad game design; you can't even stun his instakill spell
    71. what's the use of picking which negative buff to have if you're going through all of them anyway?
    72. return to middle should be a screen message not just a timer; you're getting lost in the battle that you don't realize the room is supposed to change and you're waiting for Yurgimar to land
    73. much lag during and after the battle with Yurgimar
    74. not exactly sure how these dragons get through the ceiling, underground
    75. toggling the minimap creep display in chapter 10 you can see many red spots on the minimap in the northeast and one far northwest
    76. in the previous level Fradz had some strange yellow FX on him
    77. some damage is dealt before Galeoth's projectile hits the enemy
    78. all heroes should be moved to the tentacles monster, not each having to try the caves combinations since it seems they're not the same
    79. Zylcious... another lame Siluze boss; if he catches you with the rotating blockade where doodads are, you can't go around him and are forced to take the damage; he also regains full health... he's immortal... only him and he doesn't die; if I have to burn all his mana first then... Mana Mask doesn't work on him
    80. the letter v appears when fighting Hakhar and the energy balls; then a c from somewhere. Don't tell me this is the QWERTY quest...
    81. anyways fighting Zylcious is for me the most boring and nonsensical battle until now, even more than that against Yurgimar; getting items stolen!? How're you even supposed to do anything afterwards; many epic boss fights are just a waste of time, not fun; you need specific items to be able to defeat him
    82. also much lag during the dragon Zylcious phase
    83. transmissions run too fast when talking to Zylcious
    84. you're not able to use a spell unless you sacrifice the level of others/another
    85. Essence of Monstrosity says it gives 40k mana but in reality only 4k
    86. couldn't find two optional quests: one might be related to digging, the other to the explosive barrel that says I came too late
    87. third part of Xvareon fight: constant horrendous dissipate sounds
    88. looks like a Shadow is stronger than a Greater Shadow
    89. Fradz's balls right at the front side of the laser coming at Phodom
    90. lightning attack sounds throughout the epilogue
    91. although it said good ending it then said bad ending when Phodom was shown with his family on the island
    92. WILL THE ALMIGHTY floating text partially overlaps with Rufar; Archangel over _pkl; Archangel over something writer

    Overall, I don't agree with the fact that you have to replay the game several times to get stronger to be able to complete some optional quests. I also don't think important parts of the story should be integrated in optional material. They are necessary for the plot to make sense. I have nothing against special items or other non-story related material which comes as a reward for those who play on harder difficulties or replay the campaign.

    I was so sure that Aero used a third party editor to make it considering how complex the campaign is (and thus would bug completely on 1.26+), but it seems he didn't if 1.30.4 can be played without bugs. That is great news!

    I never got past the 4th/5th level, and yea the fact that "re-runs" were needed to complete stuff made it hard to find motivation to play. I might try to beat this again, on a lower difficulty so I can experience everything in 1 play through :)

    First of all what game version are you playing it on?
    Second, access the map, choose spells and stuff, then you're ready to go. Just follow the text on the screen. Go to your options and choose subtitles on and stuff.

    Check your alchemy. It's an "ability" in one of your hero options/icons on the top left.

    The latest version, and yes i know i need to select the spells and all that, but the icons (and most of the screen) is green and there is no description on any of the spells.

    Yes, everything is set to the highest settings possible.
    I run Windows 10 and it is the latest version of the game; 1.30.4
    Here is a screenshot of what i basically see, if I hover a skill icon no description appears.
    The description box appear but it's empty
    This is the only map/campaign that have that issue

    Weird, I just played it on those and had no problems. Must be something else.
    Is the file size of the campaign the same, 120.62 MB?
    Imports and stuff aren't loaded correctly for some reason.

    Huh, weird, mine is only 17MB for some reason.

    Edit : File is fine, when i launch the campaign, everything is broken and the file change to 17MB, no clue what's going on there.

    Wicked... did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the game?
    Also, I'm guessing you're not using a PTR version and that the campaign is under Documents/Warcraft III etc.

    Have you edited the campaign in WorldEditor?That SHRINK of mapsize happened to me when I was trying to translate it several months ago.And yes,everything just turned green like the screenshot you've uploaded,making me to believe this campaign could no longer runned by Warcraft III 1.29+ anymore.

    Fortunately,it seems that I was wrong.Since deepstrasz has replayed The Chosen One and made a great feedback in #5862,I've downloaded the campaign again just half an hour ago.It works fine,for now,even better than before because the loading time of each Chapter is greatly shortened.(thanks to the new patch 1.31.0 perhaps?) I'll definitely try this later and see what I can do. Of course I won't open it in WorldEditor since this patch is full of bugs and unstable at the moment.

    Yes, exactly.


    I thought that the campaign was protected and you couldn't open it. I was wrong apparently, just tried and the file size also change when I try to save. Really weird, don't understand why that would happen.
    Just opening the campaign and saving immediatly without changing anytime will also fuck up the file size.

    Edit : is there a way to prevent a shrink when saving a campaign ? I'm kinda hoping to save my own version to prevent any fuck ups

    It's hard to say right now.Maybe some part of The Chosen Ones are encrypted,just like Malfurion's Quest.Maybe the special font of this campaign is not campatible with non-english version of warcraft3,which by the way I'm currently using a Chinese one.Maybe the worldeditor of patch 1.31.0 has screwed everything...

    Hmm... what language version are you using @xrouge? I played it on 1.30.4 the English version.

    Just tried loading it on 1.31. It looks OK. I really don't know what's the issue...
    Are you sure, the pathing is right?
    OS disk:\users\username\Documents\Warcraft III\Campaigns ?

    Have you tried running both the x64 and x86 game versions separately?
    Do you have the original game/CD-keys?
    Have you tried fiddling with the video options, full screen and all that?

    Might it be something related to Windows not recognizing the font?

    I use the original game yes.
    Tried a lot of different settings with the options : full screen/windowed, changing the graphic settings, changing the sounds, changing the resolution : nothing worked

    I'm not really sure how i would change the font, i don't even know if it would matter since it seems that the imported icons also get corrupted.


    Edit : I tried some other campaigns found on HWS : they don't corrupt.
    Tried to open them in the campaign editor and saving without changing anything : works fine.

    TCO is the only campaign that fuck up
