he Dwarves had long had a magnificent civilization long before the likes of men or elves had even a understanding of social structures, these hardy creatures delighted in learning about the various rocks and their properties, as well as crafting runes and weapons.
They prospered under the relative peace of the realm of D`or, but there were darker forces at work, as a renegade Dwarf named Athon Silverhammer began to practice the dark arts, and in practicing these arts he caught the attention of a demon god by the name of Blakoth. Thus began what would spawn the race of Dwarves known as "Chaos Dwarves". Using his newly gained powers from the Demon God, Athon was able to gather a large group of followers, and began a revolt against the Dwarf Kingdom of Angador. This was to be known as "The War of the Dark Hammers", the forces of Athon were eventually routed and they fled from the relative safety of Angador, to the north, finally reaching a large mountain range that would come to be known as Athon's Refuge. The Chaos Dwarves used their formidable magics to easily carve out a cavern in the mountain range, and so they built the city of Shaul.
Many years after the exodus from Angador, the Chaos Dwarves happened to feel a familiar presence that of the Demon God who had given them their Chaotic powers, his influence giving them great strength again, they began to prepare for war.
