Greetings to you all, people of The Hive Workshop.

I'm T.D.G., which stands for The Dark Giganotosaur. I'm 24 years old (2007) and I'm from Portugal (Not quite a popular country, eh?)

Before I tell you more, I wish to say that I've been visiting this site (And also wc3campaigns.net) since the existence of wc3sear.ch. My only wish is that you guys keep up with the good work and not end up like wc3sear.ch. I could've never created any campaigns if it weren't for your help and resources, so I appreciate that much. Thank you.

Oh, and by the way, I will always abide the rules of this site, since I'm older and I understand about these things. I hope the whole crew of this site are friendly, since I'm a nice and calm person, I respect everybody and I don't like being insulted (or flamed as you wish to call) because I don't like to get angry.

Now, about myself. I'm pretty good at modifying and repairing models, such as adding geosets, fixing broken vertices, and many things. Expert at reskinning things (Did you see my dino avatar?), the unmatched (maybe...) Campaign AI that contains important functions, and I have created the most advanced Trigger file that you guys will surely LOVE it!

I've been working for 3 years (And I'm still working on) on an epic campaign project. It's called: "The Ring of Chaotix" (No, it's not about Sonic adventures or some sort) It's something that I've made it up. The one I'm working on are the Good Guys, that have more than 40 chapters to play, the races are, Human, Orc, Night Elf, Naga, and on the final chapter, the Bad Guys' Renegades. And this campaign will require a patch to enable multi-cliffs support, custom death sounds, and some fixes in many SLK files.

I have new models pack to add in your models' section, but first, I'll wait for any message, I know that I've said too much already, because I don't know the limits of this text and this is my first time, but I couldn't help it, so I'm sorry.

Welcome to The Hive Workshop!

Greetings T.D.G.. Excellent intro, thanks for participating in our community! The Hive includes many talented Warcraft III modders of all skill levels among its users. Veteran members (especially friendly ones) are always welcome. Take a look around and enjoy your stay, may it be long and productive!

Some good places to start include:Searching the site using the above link always helps, you can learn a lot that way: just reading and learning is usually the best place to start, especially if one feels overwhelmed.

Likewise, the tutorials can really teach ALL of us a thing or two.

The chat room is cool: lots of people can answer questions there.
  • A few other tips that might help too:
    • Always search first! Did I already mention THAT?
    • When creating a new thread, make the title VERY specific: so the site's search engine (and we users) can easily understand just what the thread contains.
    • Post your new threads in the proper forum: read the descriptions of each one so that you know what to post there.
    • If all else fails, just send me a private message! I'll try to do whatever I can to help.

Clever? Thanks, but you guys ARE more clever than I, because when I needed help, I use to consult your tutorials and I've learned much about, specially the memory leaks.

Well, the reason that I couldn't create my account, was because I didn't have Internet access, I had to use my friend's computer and visit you guys.

The completion of my campaign? Eh... I'm not sure when, still updating some changes, thinking on my story events, fixing some problems and so on. But don't worry, it will be ready EVEN if it last my whole lifetime!

Ragingspeedhorn: How much percentage? Let's say... um... 75 percent... But I'll take a bit much longer, so I can't help much about the answer.

As for the Map Development, I'll think about it later...

Wolverabid: Sorry for editing this post many times, I'm just too nervous about being a first timer, and thanks for the warm welcome!

He is actually TDR and I don't think he cares :p

Hope not, because I don't like upsetting people and causing a wide-spread mess, but it's quite easy to identify ourselves with the good old Avatars and Signatures...!

And speaking of it: What do you think of my Avatar and my Signature? I think I should change the signature text, it looks quite big... There's no problem with changing my personal data, right?

And a weird question (Ugh!): Have you ever heard of a Giganotosaurus?

Greetings Gigantosaur. And welcome to the HIVE. I am -Elenai the Epic- and I hope you find your stay here to be a pleasant one filled with lulz and rep.

Perhaps you could post this Epic project of yours in the map development forum.

Thanks, Elenai. But you can call me Dark Giganotosaur, I like that better.

Well, these chattings we're having are not about "lulling" (If that's what you've meant, I'm too new to understand these Internet words such as "lols, this and that"...), It's about working together to create more exciting campaigns that should leave the Blizzard Team's mouths wide-open and make the people keep playing WC3.

I only wished the Blizzard Team should have added in WOW a single player mode, just like that game: The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. Because their release was a great disappointment.

Now, about my project, as I've said, I'll think about it, but there's a little problem that could put an end my campaign. I hate modifying other people's own models and stuff, but due to the events of my campaigns' tale, I had to modify them, remove some bad animations, adding new ones, or reskinning to match my story. But don't worry, everyone, I WILL ask their creators for their permission BEFORE I release my project. And here's another big problem, but REALLY big... it was 6 WOW models in it that I've got from wc3sear.ch. At first I thought that getting them was okay, but when I've heard that getting them was illegal, I was like: "Oh God, what have I done? I've spent some weeks making heavy modifications on these 6 WOW models! Will the Hive's crew refuse my fine project?" That's what I'm scared about, because if people won't let me use modified models and having the 6 heavily modified WOW models imported, then I'll remove them, but my progress will be greatly delayed or devastated.

I hope I'm not making people start glaring at me...

You can use WoW models if you want to, plenty of maps and campaigns in our database does. But I would still recomend using something else instead as some people look down on using WoW models.

Also as long as you credit the original authors I don't think there is much harm in editing their stuff to fit your needs as long as you don't upload it as your creations in the model database or the like. Out of courtesy you could ask for permission but if someone has become inactive and does not reply then don't let that hold you back.

Out of courtesy you could ask for permission but if someone has become inactive and does not reply then don't let that hold you back.

Of course, crediting their creators is my primary priority, I know I'd never upload someone else's own creations here, but until there's no campaign protection utility, people will definitely start ripping those models from my campaign and start upload them themselves! Do I have to modify my campaign file with the WinMPQ and delete some things to make it "unopenable" in WE to prevent rippings?

About the WOW models, I doubt than anyone had the idea to create a Demon Lord such as Lord Kezzak, the Demon Lord's Offsprings such as WOW Doom Guards, and the Fel Bats for the Burning Legion faction. The rest was converting silithid wasp and bosses into corrupted bees such as Giant Bees and Giant Wasps for the air support for the Corrupted Ancients faction. Another funny thing I did was taking a WOW Ogre's head, and attached it on a WC3 Ogre's head, because the WC3 Ogre's heads look like "babyfaces". I also wanted to add the succubi women into the game, but I've already taken that away and made a modification on the WC3's succubi. Oh, I've almost forgot the Pterrordactyl, or whatever that scary pterodactyl dino's called.

Apart from that, there are no more problems in my campaign. But is it okay if I attach some images to show you what I mean, or is posting ingame images with the modified WOW models' illegal?

It is not illegal. Only elligal thing is sharing WoW models through the model database and such.

Thanks, I'll have an example ingame image attached there tomorrow because it's almost midnight here in Portugal and I need some sleep. When I have enough time, I'll send you the image, and you'll tell me what I should do, because I don't wanna get involved into that kind of illegality.

Uh, by the way, please answer to me these following questions:

1st - How do you attach any file in here?
2nd - I'm thinking of uploading my first pack of models, how do I do that?
3rd - Is it okay if I'm logged off for days, or weeks? Because I'm not the only one using this computer (The one I'm typing right now...)!
4th - The mistakes that I make when I type, how many times can I edit my last post?
5th - Can I return to this thread and continue with our conversation, or do I have to create a new thread somewhere else?
6th - Is it okay to say "see ya tomorrow" and log off after you've answered my questions? I'm getting sleepy...

Oh, and Mechanical Man, the programs that I use are:

- Magos Model Editor
- Oinkerwinkle (yup!)
- Guesst's WarForger
- Yobgul's converter
- Guesst's converter
- Rarely Milkshape 3D
- I don't know the rest...

Thanks for everything, guys. I hope to see, or should I say, talk with you guys again!

1: To attach files "Go Advanced - Manage Attachments".

2: Go to models section while logged in and press the upload button and then actually upload the models from that page.

3: You can be off for as along as you want without anything happening to your account I believe.

4: I think you can edit your post an unlimited amount of times.

5: I'm sure you can continue talking on this thread.

6: I guess.

Okay, I'm back from the old dino slumber in my cave...

KKRP: Thanks for the info.

Ragingspeedhorn: Thanks. But from I heard, Blizzard have been ignoring people, but hey, it's their masterpieces anyway. I think they're too busy with their new game creations to mind about WC3...

The images that I wished to show you are inside this zip file. (Has the zip file been sent there correctly? Is the file structure not corrupted? Tell me!)

Now, each example number corresponds to the following explanations, then you'll tell me what to do with them. Note that their animations remain the same, except for some retouches that I've made...

Example01 - From the Spirit Healer to the Elven Goddess. The changes were:
- Added a pair of elven ears.
- Added my own "attack" and "death" animations.
- Added a new portrait model that contains "portrait" and "portrait talk" animations of the Sorceress.
- Reskinned her (specially her feet), she looks a bit brighter than before. But still looks the same...
- Fixed her attachment points.
- Fixed her collision size.
- Added a hero glow.

Example02 - From Lord Kezzak to the Demon Lord. The changes were:
- Reskinned him, he now looks more frightenning than ever, and has a team color.
- Added a hero glow.
- Fixed his attachment points, such as foot thumping noises and footprints.
- Added my own portrait model that contains "portrait" and "portrait talk" animations of the Tauren.
- Fixed his enormous collision size.

Example03 - From the Doom Guards to the Offsprings of the Demon Lord. The changes were:
- Reskinned them, since some demons are green, I've used that color, and they've got a team color.
- Renamed and fixed many animations, some were quite broken, but took a long time to repair!
- Added "Decay Flesh" and "Decay Bone" animations.
- Fixed their attachment points such as foot thumping noises and footprints.
- Fixed their collision sizes.

Example04 - The ogres that really look like Shrek! The changes were:
- Replaced the WC3 ogres' heads with a WOW ogres' heads.
- Reskinned the WOW ogres' skins to match WC3's ogre's skin colors.
- Added team color on their eye paintings.
- Added the new ogres' portraits, animations from the Keeper of the Grove.

Example05 - The Silithid Wasp and Boss, turned into Giant Bees and Wasps. The changes were:
- Modified the vertices of their heads and backs, made them sound a bit rounded.
- Heavily reskinned the bees and wasps, now looks a bit more real!
- Fixed their attachment points.
- Fixed flight height and their scalings (for their death animations in most WC3's flyers.)
- Fixed their collision size.
- Added portraits to support these bugs.
- Added some dotty team colors on their backs.

Example06 - The Fel Bat. The changes were:
- Unfortunately this bat's skin remains the same...!
- Fixed its attachment points.
- Fixed flight height and its scalings (for their death animations in most WC3's flyers.)
- Fixed its collision size.
- Added portraits to support these evil bats.
- Added a team color on its back.

Example07 - The Pterrordactyl. The changes were:
- Same as the Fel Bat.

That's all about these WOW models. So, what do you say? Should I keep them, or remove them?

The Elven Goddess, the Demon Lord, the Offspring of the D.L., and the Bee and Wasp look great, the ogres look a little wierd but are still good, The team color on the bat is wierd, the pterrordax is a little better with the team color, probably just the color you used. So overall I'd give them a 9/10.:piru::infl_thumbs_up:

P.S. THAT BEE IS AWESOME!!!

Heh heh heh... Thanks, but wait till you see these ogres in action, and specially in their portraits, because these guys look really good and they can REALLY kick some butt! Since we've all heard about the old tales about ogres, they're supposed to be ALWAYS one-headed with two eyes. But I won't discuss about Blizzard's creations here.

The team color on the Pterrordax is the same as the Fel Bat, since I don't have 3D Max Studio, I'll have to improvise with the tools I have. But I can't do any better than this, but without the team color, how would anyone know who's side that creature is?

If you knew where I got the bees' skins, you'd be amazed... I've actually got that skin from the REAL bees in the Encyclopedia 2005's images. It took many hours of reskinning, but, as you can see, they look great! And don't forget the wasps too, they look cooler than the bees!

I probably think the bee looks cooler because I've been looking for a bee model for Beedrill in my project, SSBW.

Good stuff T.D.G. I would say there is enough altering for this to be used. Blizzard has released many of their resources so I don't they would mind you using their models either, especially not when you've changed them a lot.

I am really looking forward to your campaign, this might just be the best thing coming in 2007 (hopefully 2007?).

That's okay, KKRP, cool or not, It's not important. But like I've said, wait till you see them in real action. But unfortunately my campaign progress might last 1 year or more, because It ain't easy creating maps or thinking about the story events, etc..

Yup, that's really . But that  is just the beginning of witnessing some little parts of my campaign! But when you've seen the rest, I bet you'll send this one:

Ragingspeedhorn: Thanks, but does that mean that I can use them, or not? Sorry for asking too much. I don't believe it will be finished on this year, sorry.

Last edited:
Ofcourse you can use them, that is entirely up to you. Blizzard won't care, they never have done so before.

How is the campaign setup? If the first half of the campaign is finished then perhaps you can ask this in 2 bits like Handclaw did with his campaign making it in several "books". It would be a shame having to wait a whole year for this, who knows how Warcraft will be in a year!

Wow, thanks! Problem number one, solved!

But still have problem number two: The other people's own models and skins that I've modified still need asking permission, but the models are quite too many, and I don't remember most people who made them, so there's no problem if I send you another bunch of images containing the models I've modified? Maybe you can tell me who made them, since you've been all helping people since the existence of wc3sear.ch? If I knew who the people were, I'd include all of their names in "The End Credits" section in my campaign. Sounds too complicated for you?

As for my campaign, nope, this campaign is not like The Wanderers of Sorceria (Nice one, I've played all Razorclaw's books!). This is a BIG campaign file (more than 100MB I'm afraid, but I'll create a spanned zip file when I'm finished.) with more than 40 chapters, that means, MORE weeks or playing! I know that impatience sucks, and I really wished I could've released it right now. I'm still waiting to get Ulrinking's (Or whatever he's called, and no offense) Naga UI, I've heard he's still busy creating it, but I'll wait for it.

Those by far the still too close to being just "wow models" headswaps and re-textures arnt enough change in my view, the only one id say its okay is the wc3 orge and wow mix, but still not enough. But its not like your posting them, im just prone to biting.

EDIT: ask what? you want textures or something? tell yes yes, what parts u want to know?

Ragingspeedhorn: If you mean sending a DEMO, hmm... I don't know, it might cost one heck of a job... But about the posting more images of the modified people's stuff, can I or not? Sorry to bother you again.

Werewulf: Ah, Werewulf, I've heard much about you, and I confess, I'm quite a bit of your fan. But I'm not here asking for autographs or some sort.

But what about you, Werewulf? You don't mind my campaign using modified WOW models? And the question you've asked, no, I don't want textures or stuff, I want PEOPLE's names so I can credit with. And thanks for chatting with me.

Now if you guys excuse me, but my dino's hungry for lunch, so, I'll send this post and the dino's off to hunt for a prey, I might be back later, see ya.

Ok, prey hunted and eaten, and I'm back.

Werewulf: And I like your wolves too (Your previous Avatars, but the Bunny you've got there is great!), wolves are part of my fascination. I think we're going to get along just fine...

Yeah, I don't like WOW rippings either, but I only got them long time ago from wc3sear.ch before it was considered illegal! When I saw those models there, I didn't even know they came from WOW, so I've downloaded them without knowing it.

When I said about being your fan, is not like "licking your feet" or whatever, it's about the way you deal with things here that impresses me, not just you, but some other crew that I can't remember. And don't worry, I'm not like the other people who like causing problems with any people here. I'm 24 years old (2007) and I'm up to respect the rules and the people around here. And I NEVER mean any offense to anyone.

Ragingspeedhorn: Thanks, the images will arrive there whenever I can, just give me some time to get them ready, though.

But I hope that one of the images won't upset Werewulf, because... one of his models... are on the list too...

And Werewulf, if you're not happy with the idea, just say a word and I'll remove it from my campaign at once. But even if you gave me your permission, I would credit you for it.

You could make your own models perhaps instead of using the WoW ones to avoid any sort of trouble I guess. As it is only 6 models and one of them is just the head of an ogre.

I wish I could, but I don't have 3D Max Studio to support the Art Tools to give me that kind of power. Specially when the Autodesk company charged that program with such ridiculous-sized price. I wonder if the Art Tools petition is still on to force Blizzard Team to do something about it (From what I've heard, I doubt it'll work).

But I'm not used to create models from the scratch (Never done that before), I only just modify, repair, fixing stuff, or adding new features, etc. to any model. But if the model was made by someone around here, or in Wc3Campaigns.net, I'll always ask for their permission. I think I'll have to ask permission to millions of people, and most of them might be unreachable!

Werewulf: A girl?! Wow, I didn't know that! With all due respect, I wished I could've made a great courtesy on you! Sorry for being pushy but I REALLY didn't know about that!

And the model that I was refering was, um... A Draenei Battlemaster, I think that's called.

Use Milkshape? It is never to late to learn and you allready have a lot of knowledge about the subject it seems.

As I've said before, I rarely use Milkshape, because the Unikorn's plugins won't import any bones, that's why I don't use it. But seriously, I've never created any model from the scratch before, too painful and hard work!

But to animate, I use Guesst's WarForger. You can find the "A Program..." thread somewhere in Wc3Campaigns.net. But it's a pain in the butt when no programs get updated periodically. I've been waiting for new updates from Magos, Oinkerwinkle and WarForger for too long. I bet if the three programs were combined, we wouldn't need that expensive 3D Max Studio nor the insulting Blizzard's Art Tools.

Sorry for the delay, guys, but my sisters wanted to "surf" on the Internet, and since I'm a gentleman, I've let them use the computer for the rest of the day.

Ragingspeedhorn: I know there are "other" ways to get 3D Max Studio without paying, but I think that's a little bit too much for me. I mean, though I hate piracy, I think both the Autodesk and Blizzard deserve a little lesson for oppressing the poor people. But I'm not a pirate, let's just say that I'm a bit of a "freeloader". I mean, If there's no program that I can buy, or can't afford in my country, some of my friends will get them for me. But seriously, I'm not part of any kind of piracy, nor I dare to distribute any softwares around, since piracy really hurts many companies.

Well, I'm off for my lunch again, I'll be back in a jiffy...

Sorry to interfere you guys but I'm suddenly freaking tempted to say: WOW, this is the most serious introduction ever made! With this smashing intro I bet you make other threads more smashingly serious. Keep it going. I give you rep for being more seriously, more loreing and more epic than Elenai!

Edit: Elenai, you've finally found your competetor! And I will be your referee. :pir:

Hey there, TheDivineBoss! There's no need to apologize, you're welcome at any time!

Well, It's not about serious things, I think I'm the oldest guy around, or is someone more older than I? I think I've got a silver tongue...

Anyway, I'm thinking of releasing my huge campaign that might shake the very foundations of our dear planet Earth. But my release is going to take a looooooong time. But I ain't bragging about anything, there are people with better campaigns than mine, like the Wanderers of Sorceria.

And please, it's not about competition, I'm just creating my campaign just for fun, not rivalry! I don't wanna hurt anyones feelings just because my campaign is special.

Oh, and sorry for editing my post again, but thanks...

Wolverabid is 40+ and there is plenty of people 20+ around here so don' worry about your age ;)

With the price of some of the great modelling programs then I'd say it's okay to get them for free, they earn plenty from companys having to buy a large amount of copys.

Nope, not worried at all, in fact I'm more than happy to meet anyone at any age. I just don't wanna be the center of the Universe or anything. I'm not that important.

Yeah, that's because some companies can afford many expensive programs. But we, civilians, rarely buy expensive ones. The politics keep taking more money than they should. I know life is unfair, but hey, we gotta be strong to survive, and God bless the poor people who are in a dire need of help .

No one should forget that all of the humans, no matter what races or religions, are EQUAL! Power should be distributed to all of the people, not just for some people. Still I don't understand why all the civilians can't realize that the world is crawling with corrupt politics who want nothing more than stealing stuff from the good citizens with BIG taxes and lying to us.

But let's not discuss about politics. It ain't Warcraft-style...

Certainly the most impressive introduction I've seen so far, and what little I've seen of your campaign is promising. It's always hard to find good single player warcraft 3 maps, so hopefully yours will provide some releif from the barrage of crappy multiplayer clone maps. Welcome to the Hive Workshop, I wish you luck with your enterprises here.

Oh, and you win a rainbow cookie!

Hey there, Shados, nice to meet you.

Ah, but you haven't seen the rest of my campaign yet, my friend, but it'll be one heck of a thrill. I think my campaign might relieve some people's nerves, because It's truly boring playing the same skirmishes.

And remember, my campaign is not about competition with the other campaign makers, my campaign is meant just for fun. I don't want to ruin Elenai's masterpiece just because my campaign looks epic.

Sooner or later, I'm about to attach some images that I've promised for my buddy Ragingspeedhorn (If he's still around) for his advice, and see if he approves of using modified models originally created by other modelers into my campaign. And a list of creators names so I can credit with.

And to feed your curiosities about my campaign, I'm also about to attach some previews of my campaign. They're not much, but they're [Slurp] juicy.

And a rainbow cookie?! What's that? And how good does that cookie taste?

P.S. - Nice fading purple color you've typed! My favorite is a mixture of red and black colors. And thanks...

Werewulf: WOW! Awesome werewolf you've got there, Werewulf! You, my friend, inspire me and impress me with such incredible wolven creatures! God I love wolves!
