THe mario go-kart & characters are no problem, but yeah, the triggering system will be a tough nut to crack. Might need help on it.

I have. Those screenshots you see there are all on the same map.

Problem is the limit of tilesets. I've decided I'm gonna do 4 tracks, and make three maps... mushroom cup, flower cup, and star cup.

Thanks. And I dunno if WEU can heighten the max speed limit. It'd be the only reason for me to ever use WEU, if it can.

Of course, I plan to have the camera follow & rotate along on a low altitude. Which means the impression of speed is greater than it actually is.

Yea- having the camera lower will be a really good idea.

Technically- there really is no speed limit. If worst came to worst, you could set the unit scale to 1/2 or 1/4 of what they previously were... that would even get the impression of a greater movment. Im sure you have already locked heads with this problem, though.

This game is going to be sick. This is one of the best sounding (and looking from what I can see) racing games for WC3. If you really can get those items and the arrow control system down, that would be awsome. Just remember- the less you have to do with the mouse the better the game is.

Opened the map, and there is a hell of a lot of custom scripts called, so I have no idea how to do that. But I can simplify the triggering, being a close master of GUI :p
I'll try to send you a dummy map with the triggers and then you can copy them and set the units required for each one

i have made a go-kart race myself i can send it to you if you want...

it got:
+3rd view
+great key system great controll on the car and the camera follows perfect BUT....
(works great alone :p put on bnet you control
other cars too.. haven't had time to fix it.. :p )
attack system (just like mario-kart, press back key to fire the wepon you get)
+++++ :D

well you will see if you want it :D
lost my TFT so cant do any more fixing to it :(


bytheway.. wont it get too big? when you think about all the models and stuff?
if you get some space let put in som mario music :p

The nice thing about Bowser's castle is that you wont really have much of anything to model or import there :). I wouldn't import music... No matter what the bitrate is, it will still take up a fair amount of space... its nice, but needless.

Nah. I'm gonna use my bowser model, reskin it, and make some statues of him. He likes to look at himself, you know. Since mario 3 in allstars, you've seen his castles filled with statues and paintings of his own image. Keke.

I want to make these maps in one go. Once they're downloaded, people shouldn;t have to download them again. It'll take a lot of playtesting, but.. it'll allow the maps to be somewhat on the big side.

Its good that you are only going to make one version, then people with slow connections could still come here and download them. Just keep in mind that when the maps becomes popular, there could be some fakes floating around b-net, even if it is protected. I wouldnt be suprised if Darky made a few rip-offs :shock: (we all know darky's knowledge of opening locked maps :D).

You wont need to do any terrain editing though. It shouldn't be too difficult to do a Bowser statue model. It wont even have to be that detailed, it most likely wont be the focal point of the racing.

Hmm... this is by far the coolest thing that I have ever seen...

I do have some ideas on speed triggering that I do.

You should make the track a region, and make it so that units within the region receive an acceleration boost every x period with a cap to max speed.

Then you should make the non-track a region and make it so units in that area gradually slow down, with a cap at the bottom level to prevent being stuck.

This would encourage players to stay on the track, and not go hiking across the map.

Now if the view is in the place that I think it will be that I do and you need to press keys on the keyboard to go foward backward... etc... such as in the Blizzard map "Dodge the Sheep" this trigger may be harder to make.

Perhaps every x period you could receive a message on the screen telling you to shift gears by pressing some sort of key, thus increasing speed.

This is just an idea. I'm clueless when it comes to most triggers and JASS script. See if you could work it out, that I wonder.

BTW, can I possibly be a beta tester?

True, even though with the four tracks you've seen sofar, I already had to switch some ground texture skins around. (the snow you see is actually "northrend rock", since the standard snow couldnt be used.)

That's a great idea Komako, though I already have numerous "speed boost" areas in the track, especially rainbow road. It gives the go-kart a modified rune of speed when they drive over it, increasing speed to max for a few seconds. I'd have to see about implementing your idea while keeping this one intact.

I have some tips too :D

the players should be able to select a go-kart to dirve, like you can seleckt if you want to drive with mario, luigi, browser ...

when they drive over spesiel area they get a wepon that can help them.... like boost, bombs, banana and stuff like that..

in starland that you can fall out if the map...
(wait for 5 sec and come back on again..)

its just tips :p

All we need are a couple shells with alphaed main shells and a seperate white skin for the rims and spikes. Then we need a spinning cube with a etheral glow and a question mark (possibly embedded with sfx) for items. The speed acceleration really needs the work of a Jasser like Vex or Raven.
