Spell with unit's damage

how do i make an ability deal the damage of the unit? +bonuses
Create a hero with their same base damage in a corner of the map, which has no backswing/damage point. Give it their attributes, abilities, and items, as well as any buffs they might have (might take a little bit of work). Have it attack a dummy and detect the damage. Use this to know how much damage to deal with the spell. Be sure to remove Bash/Critical/Other spells that might skew the result.

Alternatively, you can just store the damage they dealt every attack, but that will bug if your damage changes between your last attack and current one, or if they did a Critical/Bash/Etc.
 
yeah, i was thinking of doing something like that, but ill tell you what this is for,

you know Uther Party, the Arthas game, where you press attack, then the unit just swings infront of it, then deals damage if it hits, well, im making a game, that uses that idea as the attacking system, and making it in an elimination Tourny based style. im going to post in the Map Development thread.


EDIT: if you make the hero with locust, will the corner icon be there?
